GREENBERG: "Reports out there this morning that you have a contract in hand from the University of Tennessee and it involves an ownership stake in the Browns. There any truth to that (rumor)?"

GRUDEN: "No there isn't. I should probably tell my wife that because it does involve her and my kids. But no there's no truth to that. I'm just excited about Monday Night Football and getting ready for the Giants and the Redskins. I apologize, I really don't have time to get into all that stuff."

Translation: There isn't enough moonshine and meth in all of Tennesseeland to make me give up my sweet gig, if I take a coaching gig it will be a NFL gig, go raid the sunbelt for a coach you slack jaw yokels.

Wait just a damn second here! You mean to tell me that Gruden isn't going to coach the Vols? Damn, I've been had. His wife was a cheerleader there for christ's sake. I read on this site that this was a lock. I demand an explanation!

Gruden's agent has been given the offer, but Gruden himself has not been given the offer.

What do you expect him to say to his current employer? DERP

ESPN has been very understanding with their other color commentators who have been in the booth but looking to get back in their preferred professions, former drivers in their NASCAR and NHRA coverage for example.

One commentator announced he was leaving the booth to go back to driving before the season was already over, his replacement announced he was staying and had turned down a driving opportunity, for example. ESPN don't care and will not fire them for trying to go back to their preferred profession.

"I guess I have to say it, I'm not going to be the Alabama coach."

Let's not write this off as a done deal just yet. Honesty, Football Coaches and Sports Agents are generally not found in the same place at any given time.

Saban got a better gig leaving Miami for Bama.

Gruden already has a better gig than any coaching job, hands down.

He is the new Madden.
