I hope his sources are better than Herbie's before the '07 SEC Championship game. Per Herbie's "sources" Miles was guaranteed to be heading up north to Michigan. If I was a talking head at ESPN or the SEC Network, I'd hold off on trying to project coaching changes...doesn't seem to work out often.

Herman to Texas is different, he had strong ties to Texas, Chip has what ties to UCLA?

Plus, UCLA is not a destination school, when has a HC ever left a LSU, UF, OSU, UT or Bama to go coach UCLA??

If I were Kelly's agent I would force the two schools into a bidding war.

I think we'd welcome a bidding war, but if he is seriously considering UCLA this is probably more about lifestyle and expectations. Two things we can't control.

And its also funny as hell ppl saying Greg McElroy has all these sources being at ESPN yet not one other person at the network who has been there for decades has said anything.

Greg knows shite, he’s mad as hell UF parted with Mac. He vouched for him daily on the SECN and now hes stirring the pot.

McElroy is saying this shite to troll UF fans but the only people falling for it are opposing fans.

He's recruited the southern CA area and won in the conference before.

I get the feeling that he wants florida, but the boosters and fan expectations scare him. There's no reason a head coach with big aspirations would choose UCLA over UF.

Chip’s agent, David Dunn, is a UCLA alum

Where do you think he’ll be “meddled” with less?

He jumped at the NFL

I highly doubt he is one to shy away from expectations

Stadium is half empty

Spurier left on his own because "it was not fun anymore", his words.
Zook was fired
Meyer left on his own, "due to health concerns", his own words.
Will was a hot name and was fired from there.
Jim was a hot name and was fired from there.

If I'm a hot name coach, based on the history alone, and I would look long and hard before choosing to be the head coach of UF. There are other places I could go where I may make close to the same money and likely have a longer more stable career. If I have confidence in my abilities, I believe I can be successful at most of the power 5 schools.

If you are and up and comer, Zook, Meyer at the time, Will, Jim at the time, then yeah, you do it. But if you are a proven commodity, Chip, why chance it? Go where you can have prolonged success on the back-end of your career with less "meddling".

These are good points. They don't have money to throw at you like UF would have. I'd be concerned about that if I were Chip. UCLA, however, doesn't have the expectations that the UF fanbase has.

Didn’t UCLA just build new practice facilities? It does not have a waterfall but it’s far from garbage. They play at one of the most iconic stadiums in all if sports so the facilities issue is a nonissue. However, paying assistants is a legitimate problem.

To make things a little more interesting, the director of coaching and the guy that handles most of the college coaches is former UF player Trace Armstrong.
