I listened to or read something about the USCe coaching search last year. Supposedly, something came up in Fuente's background which eliminated him & Herman didn't like the fact he was "named" in an article. It was also kind of weird he didn't take the job because they lost to Citadel.

mckay articles should typically start as "based loosely on a true story"

Good read.

Let's hope that Alleva is smart as the author suspects.

if nothing else LSU has to put an offer out to Herman so Jimbo doesnt demand 10M or some shite like that, he needs to at least think we have options.

quote:

An added thought to throw in – last year Tom Herman was under serious consideration for the South Carolina job, and apparently was considering a job offer to move to Columbia.
every account i ever read on that said he accepted the job but then pulled out when the news broke before he could tell Houston and talk to his team. still this is very good news because it means hes looked around the SEC at least once already and hasnt been waiting on Texas.

I've always thought Herman backed out of the job because he realized he would be the HOT coach that everyone wanted if he waited another year. Some people said then Texas told him the job would probably be open this year and he would be their choice.

Also read a story Herman wanted consideration for UGA job. Sounds like he wants to coach in the SEC.

Herman or fisher would be great so would fuente but does he leave after 1 year? I would enjoy laughing at all the arrogant FSU fans who think Lsu is the titanic and no way fisher would leave their "prestigious" program for the cesspool in BR.. A poster on 247 said there is another target out there that would make the subscribers very happy but have to wait until later in the month. That is because of conference championships and I could not figure out who it could be. But with V. Tech with a real shot at the ACC championship game I'm starting to think its Justin.

[...] Alleva may be trying to put himself in a position to have leverage on both Herman and Fisher. It’s probably the only way to close the sale on one of the top two choices available without breaking the bank on a $50 million contract.
Exactly. From a negotiating standpoint - and there is no other way to look at this - you cannot go into negotiations with Jimmy Sexton without credible leverage. That is what Herman represents at the least. (Thank God Sexton is not Herman's agent.)

Aleva's biggest problem is Texas. Sexton knows they will go after Herman too and knows that Aleva can't compete with the kind of money Texas brings to the table. Sexton could play the waiting game and let Herman find his new job. Then Aleva has no leverage with Fisher. Not good.

But both coaches will want to start their new jobs ASAP for recruiting purposes - both players and assistants. That's Aleva's advantage. If he shows the spine he had during the Sankey negotiations, it could be a win - win with these two candidates.

Okay, so you've identified Aleva's problems.

Now identify Alleva's problems.

Fuente has always been legit and should be a strong consideration. I think the reason he has gained traction in the search is because he hasn't even finished his first season at Va tech.
