Finally, a big name that’s actually available. Doubt he’s interested but at least he’s available until his next panic attack.

Why not? Should be a short call. Only wastes about 20 seconds of the search because that’s how long he takes to turn it down.

Why do we need a 10 million dollar whale? I’d rather bring in a young guy for half the cost or less and let him build a program.

The GOAT Saban. Thats the biggest whale of them all. Not like he would come back but that's the first call every team should make.

Do you understand the resources at Oregon?

And yet they never get into bidding wars to retain coaches, and never go chasing "big" names themselves.

I also don't get why Lanning is such an obvious first call. What are his biggest wins? I thought that was a major critique of BK.

B1G Championship where Oregon gave up nearly 300 yds rushing to Penn State? One-point regular season win over Ohio State where Will Howard took too long to slide? Fiesta Bowl win over Liberty? Is that it?

He was 0-3 against DeBoer. He crashed out of the CFP as the #1 seed. His team recently got bullied at home by Indiana. He's a good coach, but he's not a guaranteed home run.

He will. If he wins one title at Oregon, he’s their greatest coach ever. He has Nike money, which puts Oregon in the top tier of jobs in this era where money rules.

After realizing the built in advantages that Kelly had, I couldn't hire another coach from ND. At this point, for hiring purposes, you have to classify ND as a G6 school.
