Give Kragthorpe some credit

In 2003, Kragthorpe was one of the hottest names in coaching. In just three years, he won more games at Tulsa than had been won in the prior seven combined; he took Tulsa to two bowls. While the Petrino/Thompson era at Louisville was relatively successful, the perception was that it was a thug program. Kragthorpe was not given the support he needed to transform the program. His situation was similar to that of Sylvester Croom who was hired to clean house at Miss. St. In 2003 this man was the finalist for many "coach of the year awards." I have no problem with his hire. Character counts. I am sure that the man has the proper credentials.

In 07, Crowton was considered the best cood. in college football. Kragthorpe had tons of talent and a senior qb in 07. He failed miserably.

Also if you go further he was the OC on the 1998 A&M team that took down #1 K-State for the Big 12 title

yeah, i remember he had issues with the mess he was left. of course petrino denied ever having problem players. however, the more i watch arkansas play, i can tell a lack of discipline from their player.
their players talk/taunt after a play on a regular basis. looked like fools with all their talk down 28-7 to ohio st.
i didn't know who to believe then. time will tell. If this season is a indicator of things to come from arkansas, looks like krag may have been correct.
i don't know if Krag is a great o.c. or not. i do like his emotion and intensity. i just want a guy that meets miles philosophy and can recruit. If he is that guy, then great.

Offense was ranked 6th in the nation but I guess we are hiring a HC and not an offensive coordinator...oh wait...

I love Fuente, but will assume big Les did due diligence that Krag's family issues are behing him. We need someone who can devote the same energy the OC's of the other SEC teams are devoting.
His resume seems just "ok", but he has never had the talent he will have at LSU, and he seems to be a good fit for Mett and Rivers.
If hired, we can support this guy.
We have to trust that Big Les has done due diligence and is not hiring him purely for integrity reasons. That is certainly a main consideration, but football reasons need to be the #1 consideration.
He is not Crowton or Stud, so that is a big plus!

IMO: Krags seems very similar to the GC hire in 2007. We pull Crowton away from an Oregon program that was not happy with the direction of thier offense due to some regression from the previous two years. Which sounds just like Krags offense at Louisville...And Crowton's offense at LSU.
Could be a great hire, but "could" is not what I'm looking for from Les. I'm hoping for the same type of credibility that Les brought in with the Chief.

Just answer this: does Krags like to run the option to the short side? Hell, does he like to run any type of pitch option?

It certainly doesn't appear that his offense failed miserably. Correct me if I'm wrong, but LSU is hiring him as an OFFENSIVE coordinator.
