Gerry Glasco to be named ULL softball coach...2/3 of ULL players want out...

Glasco currently holds the position of Associate Head Coach at Auburn, a position that he accepted only earlier this fall. Prior to that, he had been in a similar position at Texas A&M for three seasons and was largely credited for the Aggies' breakout offense that went to the Women's College World Series in 2017.
A longtime SEC coaching veteran, Glasco also spent six seasons at Georgia in the mid-2000s and early 2010s. He has also coached at the travel ball and high school levels prior to entering the collegiate coaching game.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Glasco also has presided over two NPF championship-winning squads, including the USSSA Pride in 2014 and the Scrap Yard Dawgs, who won their first-ever league title under his watch in the 2017 summer season.
At Louisiana-Lafayette, Glasco joins a Ragin Cajuns program mired in controversy following the dismissal of Michael Lotief in early November. The vast majority of the players on the ULL roster have publicly expressed support for though recent reports released by the school's administration have detailed conduct including improper interactions with members of the athletic department staff and profane interactions with members of the softball team. The release of the report caused Lotief's attorney to threaten litigation.
The Ragin Cajuns finished the 2017 season with a record of 47-8 and ended the year atop the Sun Belt conference standings before being eliminated with a 2-2 record from the Baton Rouge regional. The biggest pieces of their starting lineup have not graduated, but sources in Lafayette recently confirmed that at least 2/3 of the Ragin Cajuns roster is seeking to transfer to other schools. It remains to be seen how Glasco's first roster as a collegiate head coach will take shape.

Isn't this a strong hire?
They should let them transfer.
They should let them transfer.

Why would they want to leave if they found a competent replacement? It's not like they promoted a defensive line coach

Because it means Lotief is really out and there is no turning back

how do ULL fans feel about this?

Good hire and big blow to Auburn but if the fans and players who are Loteif loyalists don't buy in it won't matter.

I didn't realize Auburn hired the James Madison coach. damn they're not playing around about staying relevant

It was probably the best hire they could make
A lot of people didn't want to take the job due to the image the program faced at the moment
Now I wonder who they will hire to be the hitting coach
I think habetz and Murphy are a package deal from what I hear but they wouldn't leave Alabama for UL well not now at least. They have solid classes comin in over the next few years

Does LSU get in on the Supermarket Sweep for their top talent?

Apparently ULL will bar players from transferring to any other in state school.

Ah...makes sense. I could see McNeese, or even LA Tech, racking up as well, but not if there is a transfer stipulation.

Glasco has coached two very recent Cajun players in the fast pitch professional league and they have won a championship under him.
Rumors are swirling that his staff will be extremely strong and have Cajuns ties. So I doubt we see a mass exodus of players like was floated by the Lotief camp and local media. Which have both tried to defame the program and steer the narrative from the beginning.
This is a very solid hire.
