Benefits -

Large city versus rural college town
One of the four top recruiting states in the nation
Better opportunity to consistently win conference championships
Easier path to the college playoffs
Opportunity to beat Dabo every year to set himself up for the Bama job when Saban retires

Where am I wrong?

Not enough attractive coeds at GT for Kiffin to bang, so its a non-starter

Not always a benefit and some people like smaller towns…..

Mississippi produces a lot of talent and is surrounded by great states to recruit in…. Why hasn't Georgia Tech benefited from being in such a great recruiting area?

Wouldn’t think so since Georgia Tech hasn’t been close in yeas.

Easier path to the college playoffs

Again, why hasn’t Georgia Tech been able to get there then?

No different than if he’s successful anywhere else.

I mean I see your point, but since when does the GT admin give two turds about football?

Yeah, I know I'm dreaming, but the university president did say some things that makes me feel like there is the possibility that they will reach higher this time when selecting a coach. He did make what appears to be a great hire for athletic director and he stated he is committed to doing whatever it takes to be among the best in the country.

"Georgia Tech is a competitive place. We aspire to be competitive with the best universities in the country in everything we do. Most people know that we are very proud to be one of the best public universities in the country. We are top-ranked on many academic lists. On the research side, we are the number one university in research expenditures among those without a medical school and we are top 20 overall. We are very proud of that."

"Athletics is no different. We want to be among the best just like in everything that we do. That is why we have made these changes. New leadership will give our athletes, coaching staff, and program, a necessary change in focus and direction. A new opportunity to win. I am committed to doing anything that needs to happen to return our program to the place where it belongs. Among the best in our conference, among the best programs in our country."

Georgia Tech left the SEC is enough to see a school scared and refuse to compete with the rest of the school and doing the same thing in the lesser conference now.

He's not leaving Oxford for Atlanta. He can recruit Atlanta better from where he is.
