is it? I am referring specifically to the anti-(insert LSU coach name here) crowd that scream bloody murder at the failures and are dead silent after success. This isnt just about Miles, this applies to every coach at every program and team in the world. What coach is universally beloved? What coach is universally supported?
So talking about Miles, there was is an element to the fan base that never liked him and the success he has just prolongs their misery. So they wait for their AHA! moments and stew.
I am not a big fan of Les Miles the game day coach. I do appreciate Les Miles the man. And I think Les Miles the major program CEO is excellent. That being said if he chooses to leave I wont celebrate, because it will be the end of the greatest coaching run in LSU Football history.

I am a Miles Fan. I am not saying he is without fault.. All people and all coaches have faults.
My big problem is people want to blame the offense on him but not give him credit for the defense, the recruiting, or the massive amount of wins he has tallied
"Anyone could recruit to LSU"
- No they can't, It's the reason we struggled before Dinardo.
"Anyone could coach LSU to 100 wins"
- You can't win on talent alone. Muschamp is a great example. As is Kiffen at USC (despite having limited schollies his top 22 were still better than 99% of the teams they played)
"Chavis has full control of the defense"
-Chavis is amazing, But Miles made the hire, and not only that Miles works to have a more physical team than his opponents. It's why we ground and pound and win 80% of our games without a pass. We physically wear teams out on both sides of the ball. It's his strategy.
As I said, he is not without faults. I too wish that we would have gotten Harris more snaps. But a close Bama game, a close Ole Miss Game, and a close Florida Game were not the place. He should have been given reps against Kentucky, and Arky, and if we could have put away A&M then them also.
We need a passing game. Miles knows this, unfortunately we don't have a QB that can handle it yet. Harris will deliver.

That was the most level-headed response I've heard on the Rant in a long time.

Great Post! I think that Chavis is the best DC in ALL of college football.

I think Les Miles is arrogant, stubborn & genuinely dislikes a lot of the fan base.
You absolutely made up 2 of the 3. Stubborn, I'll give you. Most successful coaches are. Arrogant and disliking the fans, i laugh at completely.
Your dislike colors your judgement like most of the haters.

You're right, Les' offenses and development of QB's are the gold standard that all BCS schools strive to be like.
nice try

its not...its proven on tRant every week during football season.
1000 posts the day after a loss....disappear for days after a win and predicting LSU will lose

It's been awfully quiet for this particular coaching search. Not sure what to make of that honestly. Their last two searches had rumors flying all over the place.

I'd agree with some of that, but Les has also done himself no favors either. When he's had his chances to totally win over even his biggest detractors he's done things to keep them in the game....Co-DCs following the NC, loyalty to JJ that culminated with the debacle in the dome, numerous clock frick ups. Then after last season it appeared we made a great OC hire and Miles had finally seen the light regarding modern day offense.....then this year and Anthony Jennings happened.

You'd think that it could be that they learned from past loose lips.

sure i agree, nobody is perfect BilgePump
Sometimes I am as frustrated and perplexed by Miles as anyone. I also admit that when you look at the sum of all of the parts he is a fantastic CEO and Miles has made LSU one of the Top 10 programs in the country. Despite his shortcomings and "quirks"

His quirks don't bother me. In game management and offensive philosophy do.
I don't hate Les, but I also feel like due to his nature we'll always have a ceiling. Of course we theres also a higher floor.

Well in years past, sure, but we aren't even a top 25 program at the moment.

According to the latest rankings we are.

They done used a Klingon clocking method on their private jet, which I might add has totally taken the excitement out of the coaching changes board this year.
