By mutual agreement between Napier and State due to his just signing another extension. Very gentlemenlike. Contact was made, it was very courteous, and it ended.

I have no idea if he knows shite.

Just relaying info. TIFWIW.

* Update * He now says the hire should be revealed within the next 24 hours, probably tomorrow afternoon. Offer has been made to Joe Judge to be the next HC of State. They should have a response from him tomorrow morning. If he declines, an offer will be made to Todd Grantham who will accept (he has already done so in a handshake agreement; he’s the backup).

So there you go.

Is it possible that State made this firing at this time with no plan in place?

Is that even a possibility?

Someone close to Billy assured the Spirit board he hadn’t taken the job.

There's no way State fired Moorhead without having someone already lined up.

Worst case scenario Fedora and Monken are both available and good fallbacks for State.

The radio announcers wanted him fired during the fourth quarter of their bowl game. I had the privilege of listening to the game while driving through MS on my way on a hunting trip. It was glorious to listen to.

One of them asked "Who do we go get?"

The other one said, "It doesn't matter. Anyone is better than this."

Those would be collosal failures. There was a brief moment in the Ole Miss search where someone said they heard Fedora was a possibility. Every Ole Miss board began to meltdown. Thankfully it was bullshite

Well, a guy I know that has Louisiana connections said that Napier is the guy and it will be announced after the ULL bowl game. Now, somebody’s source is wrong. If it’s mine fine, but you’ll hear(as I have) all kind of bullshat until a coach is hired. I really don’t care who it is anyone has to be better than Moorhead. Has to be.

Sorry I was listening to the ESPN Radio broadcast then, I would've liked to have heard the MSU crew describe the fiasco.

Even better - I would have liked to have heard THIS guy's commentary:

Ole Miss' search wasn't in January. This far behind the regular carousel, if Napier's the target and they don't get him it could go sideways fast. Most sitting coaches are probably set at this point unless it's a plum job opening up, State ain't that despite the money they can pay.

Coaching extensions aren’t worth the paper they are written on

They are when it’s within a few months, especially twice over.
