I will be thrilled if that is how it turns out but I would LOVE COACH O to be Asst. HC and Head of LSU Recruiting and stay forever. He is a rare gem for LSU if he will stay. I mean he is in his mid 50's wouldn't stability at LSU be good for him.

Sadly, the Coach O drum will only grow stronger. We have 2 teams left on the schedule that even if we still had Les, we'd beat. UF has a shite offense and has multiple injuries on the Dline. + Aranda's D.

Great, very well thought out post Captain Want. Putting myself in the shoes of a rabid LSU fan I would want Thomas Herman to be the HC with Aranda staying on as DC. Aranda staying would be a deal breaker though. Herman would be a good fit in Red Stick and I'm certain he would keep yalls homegrown, top five highschool talent instate. Herman + Aranda worries me. Jimbo doesn't worry me so much although I know damn well that whomever the HC of LSU is, y'all are always going to be a force to be reckoned with.

This is pretty much the exact opposite of what I've heard. My stepson goes to UT and he says Strong is as good as gone.
Herman to Texas; Jimbo to LSU. Yes, it's just that simple.

LINK This matches up with radio reports in Austin according to other posts here. Strong looks more and more likely to stay, due to interim AD and perception.
ETA - And, if Herman has told UT no, he's somehow not going there, that also would cause UT to keep Strong.

The more I read and put things together, we've made a change at an ideal time to hunt for a replacement. Hopefully we have the guts to go and get the best guy and don't fall victim to what's easy.

From what I have been told Strong has already been told he is going to be let go at seasons end. That comes from a booster that should know considering his name is prominent amongst none big money UT boosters!!!
I hope the hell I am wrong, my first choice is Herman and that didn't change even after SMU and Navy!
