For all the non-LSU fans, who do you NOT want LSU to get?

I’ve seen LSU fans dream for weeks about who they want.
But what I’d like to know is, for the non-LSU fans, who are you hoping that they DON’T get?

I talked to a couple of Auburn fans up here in Atlanta the other day, and they don’t think Kiffin leaves Ole Miss, but don’t want us to get a guy like Heupel.

Kiff or Lanning
i think all things considered, yall aren’t much better off than we are rn
at least Guvnor MeMaw hasnt stuck her nose in our business yet
and we don’t owe nearly as much to our ex-HCs (and ex-ADs and ex-Presidents) as yall do

None of the coaches that seem to be in play at the higher end gigs scare me too much tbh.
I guess Kiffin if I had to pick. I think he would do well, but I don’t think he would do anything crazy great either.
ETA: Lanning too, but I don’t think him leaving is realistic at this point.

You don't have to worry about that. There's 0% chance Heupel is leaving Tennessee for LSU

Auburn isn’t a football school so not sure why she would get involved

Yeah its not like 2023 when DeBoer, Lanning, and even Day were getting some rumors. This cycle every solid coach seems to be either staying or at their alma mater. There's no hot riser that everyone is vying for, only Kiffin.

Matt Campbell or someone like him. An experienced coach that has won at difficult places and sustained a winning culture. Someone who is still hungry that has something to prove and who is relatively still young in the coaching game. He is 45 years old and is not a hot commodity that he once was. He has probably taken Iowa State as far as he can at this point and would be open to a change.
A flashy name hire doesn't concern me see Jimbo and Bayou Brian. More times than not a coach cashing in on one last payday before retiring or going to broadcasting.

I would love a Matt Campbell hire, but it seems to me that most LSU fans would be disappointed if he’s the hire. Hell I’ve even seen a couple people say they would melt if he’s the hire. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but IMO Campbell would be an excellent hire.

Those people are idiots, and they don't know ball.

Kingsbury
Frank Wilson
Dillingham
Freeman
I think Dillingham and Freeman are a product of incredibly weak creampuff schedules. They would both get ate up in the SEC. Not saying they bad coaches but the SEC eats not bad coaches up for breakfast. You are either at the top of competitiveness or get fired in 2 years.
there's plenty of good coaches who got fired in the SEC that would be great outside the conference. Which makes sense why Kiffin is LSU's #1 because he's winning within the SEC.

The guy wins. Two losing seasons in 15 years of coaching. One of those seasons was his first year at Iowa State. I can't imagine Iowa State having near the resource available as LSU. The recruiting base, NIL money, and facilities of LSU should blow ISU's out of the water. With that kind of support and resources Campbell should be able to win and win big.

What was your guesstimate about Vitello leaving?
Posted on 11/10/25 at 3:57 pm to HeadSlash
LSU fans don’t want any coaches named on the tigerdropings forums. There hasn’t been 1 name mentioned that some fans have not destroyed. That includes NS and Lane.
