I would bet an MoU is already signed by whomever he is offering the job to.

The word “formally” is important here. Of course the job has been offered. But you don’t formally (publicly) offer the job unless you know the answer is going to be yes. Unless you’re a dumbass like Alleva. But he’s gone now.

It’s all optics. The vast majority of the college football world doesn’t have a clue. This is in line with the whole narrative on LR’s part. Finish regular season, “receive offer”, accept offer, inform team on Sunday/Monday. LR tries to save face with team, not so much with his fan base.

Tough situation on that side, especially if LR is who has been described here with respect to loyalty and integrity. He doesn’t want to shite on team.

Quit melting.

You don't formally offer a coach the job until you've got the details ironed out and agreed upon.

It's a formality, like the word suggests.

Alleva is not the AD, Scott is. Big difference.

Come on guys. Official offers are only handed out if Woody knows it’s going to be accepted.

Well Shea on 247 said Woodward wasn’t going to offer the job to anyone “formally” without knowing it was coming back with a signature almost immediately. I like putting 2 and 2 together with this news…

That’s exactly how my job process worked. In person Interview, phone call on terms and acceptance, then official offer in writing. You ONLY officially offer when you are absolutely sure the other party will accept all terms and take the position. ONLY then have you given up the high ground to say you weren’t OFFICIALLY turned down and take the PR hit.

This board might be the most gullible I've ever seen. Jesus.

We've known for well over a month that Riley was offered and was #1 yet Woody is going to put all his chips on the table after a game today and never offered before?

Okay. Yeah, this isn't Alleva. Woody is not stupid. He may be formally offering the job but he offered ahead of time as not to be in a PR disaster if Riley refused. He accepted already, it's done, this is for PR and to make it final. Come the frick on.

Woody is not this guy

Read between the lines... This is good news if true. SW wouldn't make a FORMAL offer unless he knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that LR is accepting the offer. He's not Alleva. Scotty ain't chancing getting egg on his face.

The deal could actually already be done, and Oklahoma has chosen to keep it quiet for the sake of their season.
