Because he didn't want to work with Orgeron?

I would bet the main reason he didn't come has nothing to do with location and everything to do with Orgeron. I mean he pretty clearly made the correct decision.

Yeah lol Freeman was smart not to come on Orgeron’s sinking ship. Any halfway decent coach knew the writing was on the wall.

Fickell is not a good cultural fit for the sec. you need to find someone who is familiar with how the sausage is made

Saban came from Michigan State and was a West Virginia native. LSU broke the mold on that hire and needs to do so again this time.

This cultural fit issue is silly. A culture of winning and developing players is what you need.

O was the cultural fit fallback hire and he knows it.

He looks like a strong candidate but maybe he's waiting for Ohio State to open.

Ryan Day doesn't seem like a long term fit there. He's shady.

L.A. is mostly a shite hole with a beach/Ocean.

Really nothing spectacular about it.

And the fact that the entire state of California is a big dumpster fire right now.

Does his wife want a 6 mil spending limit increase on the CC?

Why not. Ohio is a dump and then it snows.

Sure he’d leave

I actually like Fickell, doing great at Cinci, but don’t want him at LSU because I have a crazy theory that if the fans and media have a coach as the #1 “hot name” coach then we should probably avoid that coach, because the fans and media are usually wrong when it comes to picking who the next-big-thing coaches are. I’ve seen it way too often around the country in coaching searches.

I’ll also add…Pretty much every coach wins at Cinci, it’s become a very common thing there. That program for whatever reasons is obviously set up to have success whoever the coach is, much like Houston. (Last 5 Cinci coaches: Dantonio, Kelly, Jones, Tubbs, Fickell)

Fickell is No1; how do you get him to leave Cincinnati, his home, then pick BR over moving to Southern California?

Sadly, we're in the loser's bracket to USC's coaching search - if they go with Franklin, we have a decent chance with Fickell if he just wants to move up.

Both of those guys might be USC or stay where they're at, though.

I would hold out hope for Aranda as I don't think there is another college team with the draw for him as us (maybe Wisconsin).

The only job Ryan Day would leave for is the New England Patriots because he and his wife are both from New Hampshire.

To go to a place like USC sure. But the South is very similar in its values and small-town vibe. Don’t see it being that much of a culture shock besides the heat.
