He’s got a team who averages around a 50th ranked recruiting class ranked number 2 in the country. He almost beat Georgia with that roster.

The challenge is the AD at USC is the same AD who hired Fickell at Cincinnati. Woodward has his work cut out for him but he should be able to make it happen. If he can land Fickell then he deserves a ton of praise. Anybody else and we are settling for the next best option.

I don’t want to hear the “he’s not leaving the Midwest” nonsense. There is no way he wants to stay at a school where he will never have a chance to win a National championship because of their cap on recruiting. He has an opportunity to go to one of the best jobs in the country.

You think he’s staying at cincy? A school he will never be able to win a National championship at? Where the best ranked recruiting class he can pull is around 40? Think he will turn down one of the best jobs in the country for that?

Fickell is not a good cultural fit for the sec. you need to find someone who is familiar with how the sausage is made

Agreed. Baton Rouge has issues when it comes to competing with elite programs for elite hires. Fickell is No1; how do you get him to leave Cincinnati, his home, then pick BR over moving to Southern California?

Literally the same thing they said about Saban in 2000. Not really a compelling argument.

Woodward might have already contacted his agent. Woodward might already have his guy.

Look his kids are students at uc and in high school.

His wife has literally said “ we aren’t movers.”

They turned down more money from Michigan state 18 months ago.

I would be shocked if they come to Baton Rouge after spending their entire lives in the Midwest.

I guess stranger things have happened

Fickell has said that his family doesn't want to leave Ohio. Meaning his wife doesn't want to leave Ohio .

Could find success like saban or get chewed up like bielema. Most coaching hires are a crapshoot.

Your first mistake is trusting anything coaches say, especially about changing jobs.

Michigan state and LSU aren’t even comparable. LSU is one of the top 3 programs in the country. We have had 3 coaches in a row win a championship. One of the most incompetent coaches in the country was able to win a National championship here. I saw a recent ranking on espn of top coaching jobs and it was LSU and Bama 1 and 2. Most people outside the program view LSU way higher than it’s own fans do.

He'd jump at the opportunity and is the best hire we can make right now
