I also don't want smart or fedora as HC.

Fedora hasn't done anything impressive and by losing to UAB he just made me even more unimpressed by him.

I made the same argument about Smart... Sabans calling the defense and Smarts basically just there, does some recruiting but thats it. And he's rumored to be getting the OC from Boise.... even though Peterson is the one who calls the offense at Boise. So we get a DC from a team where he doesnt run the defense and an OC from a team where he doesnt run the offense.

I'd rather take Leach, but thats not happening. Out of Fedora, Hud, and Freeze I would rather have Hud. That doesn't seem to be happening either. So that only leaves Freeze b/c I don't want Fedora.

I agree with most of this (I also want Leach, and would have liked to have gotten Hud). I prefer Smart over Freeze though, simply because 5+ years as Saban's go-to guy > 1 years as head coach at Arksans State.

Especially if KS brings in a above average OC

Guys 1, 2, and 3 haven't lived up to the hype, so that means number 4 is due for success. Amirite?

guys 1, 2, 3, and 4 were more used to 'yes sir' under Saban than calling plays.

Impossible. Rebelgator says that they are just waiting on Leach to tell them who his DC will be. Mike Glenn came to his tent in the grove one time.

WOW, there nationwide search didn't take more than a tank of gas. Archie was in Hattiesburg on Monday, probably coming back from filming his spot for Monday Night Football. Stopped by the Buzzards nest and got their own hat.

The best coaches are in the Southeast, idiot.

Just because we didn't get somebody from California doesn't mean the search wasn't "nationwide", whatever the hell that means anyway.

Saban said yesterday in his press conference that no one had contacted him asking for permission to speak to Smart. That report is accurate.

Of course he's going to say that. What, did you want him to say "yeah, Smart's been on the phone with Ole Miss and Texas A&M?" Of course he's gonna do the "I don't know nothin" routine; they all do.

What's sad is that the best coach available hasn't even been looked at. Mike freakin' Leach is just waiting for a job and has more or less begged for Ole Miss to hire him. I don't care that he has "baggage," he's a winner.

If we hire Fedora, it's going to take a lot to get me excited about our football program again.

I dont understand why I am the only OM poster that is pissed about this hire. I am willing to eat crow if he does well. But I fully expect Smart to fail.

Sig quote it if you want.

Why would you be pissed about ANY hire? Jesus, any name we've listed would do better than 2 and fricking 10 with a loss to LA Tech.

Beggers can't be choosers. All of the names we've listed would coach and recruit circles around Houston Dale. Smart, Leach, Sumlin, Fedora, and even Freeze are better coaches than the clowns we've seen on our sidelines this past year.

This is what I don't understand. Has he been formally interviewed?

I don't know. My guess is no. After he sued Texas Tech and ESPN nobody wants anything to do with him.

I have been trying to tell you people from the first time I saw Leach's name mentioned is that he would not get past the Dan Jones' smell test.

So now you, coondogs disciple, are calling out someone on jumping the gun and stating something that isn't correct? This is good...
