I love that picture of him sitting in front of Faulkner's typewriter as if a) he has ever read Faulkner and b) he can write.

I have been trying to tell you people from the first time I saw Leach's name mentioned is that he would not get past the Dan Jones' smell test.

Or the anybody smell test. He has been out of coaching for two years now. He was passed up for the MARYLAND job. Nobody wants anything to do with him, which is sad because I really like the guy.

Just out of pure curiosity. When we do hire Leach will you spontaneously combust? That'd be great.

Why? You act like it would be the first time he's been wrong. He would basically be the definition of Hell if he combusted everytime he was wrong about something...

I cannot honestly believe that you are willing to go down fighting on this one.

So, when we hire anyonebut Leach, what are you willing to do?

I trust my source.

I'll admit I probably read between the lines too much in the last email about something happening today, but other that that I'm sticking with this.

BTW, Cold Mountain is not that great of a movie.

We have Curley Hallmans all the time, so this doesn't really apply here except for the USM part...

The quote is from the book, not the movie.

Reading that must be like slamming your testicles in a door.

And the protagonist, Inman, is meant to represent someone whose virtues and values are contained "within himself" (get it?) as opposed to being represented by the colors of his uniform, or the flag he fights under.

I think it is an appropriate metaphor for the excesses of college athletics, and especially the fans who cannot seem to separate real life from what happens on a football field.

It won the National Book Award, and is widely considered one of the most significant debut novels of late 20th century American literature.

I am truly embarrassed for my state that you have a college degree.

Yes, because when posting on a message board having a deep philosophical name and quote is key.

I understand what you are getting at and while I agree, I think that is one of the most boring and depressing movies I've ever been subjected to.

Tell you what.... We don't get Leach I'll subject myself to the book as well.

ETA: You're ashamed I have a degree because I don't like a book and movie that you do? I don't like the Road either. Come revoke my degree....

Deal. The book is a 100% bad arse mix of literature and story telling. And you don't have to tell anyone that your lips move when you read it.

First, I never said I liked the movie. Never even saw it.

Second: I am ashamed that you have a degree because you criticized something that you know nothing about. That't called being ignorant.
