Sources are saying the head football job at Ole Miss is Larry Fedora's for the taking, but the search committee won't wait long for the Southern Mississippi coach to accept.

While there are many unfounded rumors swirling around, we believe these sources to be credible and close enough to Fedora to know.

The sources say that Fedora has been told a public acceptance of the offer is not required prior to Southern Mississippi's C-USA championship bout opposite Houston on Saturday. However, the timer on the offer is said to be ticking.

Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has surfaced once again on the hot list for the Ole Miss job. Our sources are telling us Smart has still not been contacted by Ole Miss.

A better choice than Freeze, but I still want Leach.

I find it extremely hard to believe he hasn't even been contacted. But as long as it's not Freeze, I'm happy.

For some reason Fedora is the one out of the candidates that I want the least.

I was against him at first because he's a USM guy, but he makes a lot of sense. I think it would be a good hire.

I have never been around any USM fans long enough to have any ill will towards Southern, but I would much rather have Smart and would even prefer Freeze to Fedora.

I have a friend up in Oxford that has been accurate on a lot of accounts. He has a big time source up in Oxford, which for some reason he refuses to this day to tell me who. Don't know why. But he was the one who told me to not worry about Brassel when he committed to State. He told me he would be Ole Miss' on signing day. He told me Nutt would be fired officially after the Kentucky game. That was after the Arkansas game.

But anyway we were talking about the coaching search. I was complaining about us possibly getting Fedora or Freeze. I was just wondering why we would even need a National Search Committee for them. He responded that Smart is the guy and to no worry about it. Of course I blew that off and said that that was just a rumor. He responded quickly saying to trust him when he said Smart was the guy.

So who knows at this point. I just wish this Search Committee wasn't so private in their damn search.

Impossible. Rebelgator says that they are just waiting on Leach to tell them who his DC will be. Mike Glenn came to his tent in the grove one time.

None of these are a good hire. Smart is only as good as Saban allows him to be. And Fedora is David Cutcliffe 2.0. We must be broke or no one wants to coach us.

We hired a coach that no one even knows how good of a Coordinator he is? Is that what you are telling me?

You could make the argument that Sumlin is useless without Case Keenum as well. Who would you suggest?

Okay...you are a Sumlin fan I see. What exactly has he proven without Keenum?

And Smart actually wouldn't be a bad hire for Ole Miss. Especially with the staff he is supposedly rumored to put together.

WOW, there nationwide search didn't take more than a tank of gas. Archie was in Hattiesburg on Monday, probably coming back from filming his spot for Monday Night Football. Stopped by the Buzzards nest and got their own hat.

As much as Keenum has been hurt over the last 6 years, Sumlin has had to coach a few games without him.

Saban said yesterday in his press conference that no one had contacted him asking for permission to speak to Smart. That report is accurate.

Who gives a shite? What the hell has Smart proven with out Saban calling every single play for him? Watch Bama play. When the players are on the sideline are they talking to Smart or Saban? The answer is Saban. What staff is he rumored to have put together? The Boise St OC? That is a RUMOR. Look at Muschamp. He put a dream staff together too and they shite the bed this season.

Smart is not the answer.

If we cant get Sumlin then I want Mike Leach. We need to make a change to compete the answer is lining up and trying to beat Bama and LSU with a better defense. Because there are no better defenses in the nation. And there wont be as long as Saban and Chevis are there.
