Exactly why are we no longer thinking it's Riley?

So why have we jumped off the Riley train today? Because he wasn't introduced in a press conference yet? Or because Oates Mustache comes into every topic stating that it's Aranda now? Because I haven't seen anything to convince me that it's no longer Riley and we are just waiting to see what he answers.

As far as i can tell, people inexplicably* seem to think the fact that it hasn't been announced yet means that everything we heard about riley was untrue.
Reality Check: Riley was never going to be announced as LSU's HC this week, regardless of whether he ultimately is or is not jumping ship. He's in play until I see an official press release from oklahoma announcing his extension and his commitment to remain at oklahoma. The fact that we haven't heard anything official is completely meaningless (if not actively good news).
*it is actually explicable - it's because we aren't the smartest around here.

Because such a hire would be unprecedented and because there’s more smoke that it isn’t Riley (multiple prominent and respected reporters saying it isn’t) than it is, and seemingly no concern from OU insiders.
The only smoke for Riley is from message board insiders.

Fans do not need to be thinking Riley has turned us down. He has not. There was an agreement under the table, and a offer in place. What I’m hearing is OU is not gonna match. OU has the ball in their court right now. And they “don’t know what to do”.

Maybe OU is trying to determine who his replacement would be first, and then at what price? Once they make that determination, then they can compare it to what they would have to pay Riley and decide if it's worth the extra cash to avoid having to hire a new coach and completely change their program.

No ones moved off Riley except for the pansies in here. Most of us know this wasnt gonna happen this week. Riley is and has always been in play. Things will start to heat up next weekend. Until then just sit back, relax and enjoy the Rant for all its nuttiness!
