I simply do not believe that at all. The same brain trust that signed Kelley would not have chosen Riley as number 1.
they are polar opposites by any rational metrics used to select coaches.

its honestly a safe assumption that BK reached out to LSU before they reached out to him. hes a very calculated guy. this is one of those situations where the AD will get all the credit, but BK was looking to leave ND and LSU was his target

A week ago Kelly said he did not envision himself ever leaving ND…Unless the fairy godmother came with a $200 million check. He would have never said something like that if he were in discussions with LSU. If, in-fact, he was in discussions with LSU and then he said that….Everyone would then know that the ONLY reason he left ND was b/c LSU paid him about 4x what he was currently making. I see no fault with him leaving ND for that reason…I just hope everyone realizes he didn’t leave ND b/c he was looking for a new challenge or wanted to compete in the SEC.

per their AD Kelly didn't even come to ND to match, this wasn't a pure money grab

this contract isn't even an insane one, so ND probably would have matched.

He probably left primarily for money but secondarily for a chance to win a Natty and recruit players unavailable to him at ND. In a sense, a bit easier job in a way.

Riley stated to SVP last night that he didn’t speak to any school until speaking to USC Sunday morning.

From Riley's press conference "Riley said he never spoke to any other school about its opening"

Not that I would trust everything this guy says.

So, people believe that Scott Woodward got absolutely played by Trace Armstrong only to go sign his other client a couple days later.

Why is this even necessary?

That’s not what happened. It was never Riley. That’s been obvious in all the interviews since yesterday

Kelly would not come if he thought he was second choice and offered less money. They have the same agent.

My thoughts exactly, why would you trust him if Riley went down like that.

OU got royally fricked

A friend of mine was with SW after the LSU game when Riley announced "I am not going to be the coach of LSU."

He said SW started laughing and had a big grin on his face.

He didn't know BK was the guy but figured then that Riley definitely wasn't.

Also we got our number 1 with no smoke ever showing,

In process we saddled usc, Michigan state and pedo state with monster deals that hurt them.
