Even if Ensminger succeeds, LSU fails long term

this is the point that the CheeriOs should be focused on: how long do you believe that SE will be OC at LSU?
even in the best results, they're short-term. SE is not a long-term answer at OC. first, he doesn't want to be OC. he will suck it up for a year, maybe two, but then what? we start this shite show all over again. second, he isn't as much of a dinosaur as people make him out to be, but he is old. these 2 facts in combination speak to a dire long term outlook
the people who are pushing the positive narrative/spin are engaging in results-oriented thinking. call them out and don't let them have this narrative.
-pin them down on how long they expect SE to be OC
-if SE steps back down again next year and we do this again, get them on the record with a comment
-work your way back to getting them on the record explaining why O didn't hire SE last year and why we wasted 2017
-get them to admit that O made a huge failure in hiring his 2017 OC
-get them to give expectations on what they expect from O following the 2018 (possibly 2019) season when SE steps down and O has to make another hire
-get them to explain sullivan, who is a bigger head scratcher than SE

I was hoping it would never get to this point.

the spin is going to be "if we hired successful coordinators he'd have to make these hires anyway"
but that doesn't make sense because
1. he hired Canada. it was a failure. Canada didn't get a HC job
2. he replaced Canada with SE. if he fires his first pick and promotes SE, after SE was OC the year he took over, then why not hire SE initially?
3. he has to understand SE is not a long-term solution and therefore doesn't get a pass for having to pick a new OC. he does't get the "if the OC left to be a HC" argument b/c his OC is going to be leaving to become a TE coach (on our own team)

Nobody thinks this is a long-term solution. It's obvious Orgeron is in full on job preservation mode. He thinks Ensminger is the best option to get him through 2019. He'll try and figure something else out then. It'll probably involve throwing Ensminger under the bus. It's pathetic and he's a pathetic leader.

I truly believe Esminger doesn't want the job but will take it as a temporary fix. I have no doubt he loves LSU and wants to try and help do what's best. I can't fault him for that.
I think LSU is looking for a short term answer, not a long term answer even though this fan base wants a long term answer. If your job is on the line, you look for answers quick, not pitch the boss about long term success. Plus OCs come and go so quickly it's hard to have a long term plan. That's the way of college football.

Agreed 100%

Gotta remember to channel frustration. At O and not SE next year

No one blames Ensminger. Not even guys who’ve flamed his resume constantly, like me

Every successful OC is short term because they'll look for and get a HC opportunity.

They're going to spin this as positively as they can, because there's really nothing else they can do.
But it's all just a smokescreen to cover up one simple fact: no OC worth his salt wants to work with the shitshow that is O/Alleva/Alexander. Especially now, after the whole Canada debacle.
Hell, even Ensminger doesn't really WANT this headache.

There is no such thing as a long term OC. Any OC at this level will be searching for a head coaching job after 2-3 years.

Yes, the culture that Skip, Saban, and Ermint built is gone. I am having 90s flashbacks.

Just dumb enough to be true!!

SlowFlowPro. What really makes you think Ensminger will not have success. He was interim last year and set 6 all time offensive records for LSU using someone elses offense. Yes it is probably not the best situation but he is not some clueless coach.

Just a hunch, Alleva didnt want a big name OC with a big salary.
Aranda and TAMU played Alleva, and Joe had no choice but to pay up. My suspicion is Orgeron is on a very short leash, hence Ensminger as OC.

This cannot be said enough. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in the athletic building so I could watch this whole shite show go down.

You’re either preaching to the choir like me...or to troglodytes that will never see past their pirogue. You will never get an answer to what program would hire O as a HC besides us or why anyone would hire him as a HC. They only know he’s one of them. The only thing that will work is a big old helping of reality.

You couldn't be more wrong. There are plenty of people who have been supportive, or taking a wait and see approach, who have been completely soured by this shite show of an OC debacle.
This coaching changes board has been like cats and dogs singing kumbaya these past few days.
