The QB that has regressed every year under Napier? I don’t get the love for Napier, he’s okay but shouldn’t even be a top 5 guy for the job.

Yes that same guy. The game has changed, it’s easy for these QBs to break records of 20 years ago

I’m laughing at the idiots that think a coach isn’t worth hiring Bc of a down year, recent loss or never winning a CFP game.

LSU only hires coaches tgat win by 40+ and never lost lol

Put Jake on this team and tell me what happens, Jake was a legit NFL QB and almost won a Super Bowl. LL will never sniff the NFL as a QB and has been in school for 5 year (he is a super senior this year).

He is not the reason this team wins. He is not bad per se, but is what is holding the team back. Napier manages him so he doesn't lose games, but he is never the reason the team wins games.

Being there for 12 seasons helps. He's a decent QB for ULL. He's trusted to understand/manage the offense. He's not good enough to flat out go and take over games though.

What was wrong with his sideline demeanor?

I didn't watch the game so I'd love to know.

He isn't in my top 3 but i think he is a good coach.

I would have Napier on my Tier 3/4 list of candidates. There are plenty of others I would rather have. The anti-Napier arguments are so dumb (see quote above) that they make it impossible not to argue against them.

By the way, having a Tier 3/4 candidate is still about 5 tiers above Orgeron. So, I'll take what I can get at this point.

The guy has to orchestrate an offense that puts up 600yrds+ of offense each game, blow the opponent put by 40, hold the opponents offense to 3 points go undefeated, recruit 4&5 stars at ULL while developing the 3 stars he gets into all americans, be great on the mic, and has to be undefeated against Saban in order to become LSU’s coach according to the rant. It’s so unrealistic for any coach.

He probably prefers Kirby’s sideline demeanor.

Yep. Using a lot of arguments here that are used against coaches, Saban is the only acceptable hire.

The number of people that turn their nose up at even Urban Meyer is astonishing. He tried to stick a finger up the poop shooter, and now all of a sudden his college track record isn't good enough. There will be no satisfying some people here, no matter who the hire is. I'm sure a few of them are just pissed about Orgeron being fired though, so they will try to shite on anything else.

I'm not as anti-napier as this post is going to sound. I do think he's a good coach and would do fine here. But over the last couple of years the betting side of me has definitely noticed that Napier's teams underperform against weak competition. And I think a lot of his more vocal supporters either overlook this or they are new to Napier and the hype around him so they are unaware. Of course this can also be argued that Vegas is over-valuing ULL but if that is the case isn't everyone?

This season:
3pt win against Nichols (-26)
8pt win against GaSouth (-14.5) - GaSouthern has won 2 games
2pt win against S.Ala (-12) - ULL shutout from 12 minutes remaining in the 2Q on!
1pt win against Ark St (-18)
4pt win against GaSt (-13.5)

2020
2pt OT win vs GaSt (-17)
2pt win vs GaSouth (-11.5)
3pt loss to Coastal Carolina (-7.5) I know its not weaker competition but they were a more than td favorite at home in a major televised game.

Ah, ok.

I doubt there will be much complaining if Riley is the HC, but I still think it will take some significant events for Scott to lure him to LSU.

Anyone not named Lincoln is going to be vilified or knighted depending on which side the fans are on.

I don’t see why people think he’ll take a Big 10 job like TCU. The man was offered two SEC jobs last year, and has only strengthened his resume with this season lol.

He was offered interviews. No guarantee he gets either of those jobs

He turned down Auburn because they would not give him control of his staff. He was offered.

And Riley this season:
Beat Tulane by 5 (-31)
Beat Nebraska by 7 (-22.5)
Beat WVU by 3 (-17.5)
Beat K State by 6 (-12.5)
Beat Kansas by 12 (-38.5)

I see a lot made about ULL losing to Texas by 20. ULL was a (+8.5). Considering that their 247 composite roster talent was 85th compared to Texas at 11th and playing in Austin that was not that bad. The greatest team of all time had to convert a 3rd and 17 to beat a 7-5 Texas team. OU had to come back from down 41-23 to beat Texas this season.

Napier is not at the top of the list. Probably not top 3, but he needs to be viewed as realistically as the other candidates considering all variables.

I just don’t really believe this 100%. Harsin is a better coach with a better resume…

understand the love for Napier.

It's mostly an organized campaign. Notice how many of his supporters joined TD after Ed became the interim coach. A lot of support is from people trying to continue their glory days of access to LSU, by getting the next La. guy hired.

They don't care about the program (see where we ended up with Ed), they just want their personal needs filled. It's juvenile.
