Was hoping Sam Pittman would be able to be sold on coming to LSU to be the oline coach and maybe another position such as associate HC or something.

Saban ran him out of Tuscaloosa very quickly

I can’t find any evidence this claim is true.

He left after Saban retired.

This is what Saban said on his assistants his final year. He basically says they're a big reason he retired. He didn't directly mention Wolford but I doubt he would. Seemed a lot of units were below par his final year. This was posted in other thread good quick watch on his feelings.

Hankton wasn’t lighting the world on fire at UGA either.

Pretty much much confirms Garrison and smith are not coming from ole miss.
Frank likely stays as RB coach

None of this is true apart from Garrison not coming.

He just left? Or was told to go?

Hate this. Would’ve rather moved Atkins to full Oline.

Atkins was on staff, if he was such a great OL coach why didn’t he step up or be utilized? I’m not saying he is bad but he was a part of the LSU o staff that will go down as one of the worse.

Georgia fans warned us about Hankton and they were 100% right. He was gifted Nabers/BTJ.

Is he even known for being a good recruiter? Surely, there must be something that he's good at to have been OL coach for 3 different SEC programs.

Some people saw that his line gave up like 50 sacks one year.

A lot goes into sacks outside of Oline though.

Looking at stats of teams he has coached for in college, it is pretty clear his Oline’s run the ball well but don’t pass block well.

That would be my brief characterization of him.

The OL this year wasn't much worse than the one in 2019 when we had the GOAT QB and an aggressive offensive mentality. This year we had a timid QB that held the ball too damn long and a shitty predictable offensive philosophy. The OL didn't stand a chance. Lucky for us we should be getting that offensive swag back and I don't think Kiffin will tolerate poor QB play.

And you think LeBitch Blames is the GOAT while also thinking Shedeur Sanders is a starting caliber NFL QB……

Bro, what? Show us a clip or actual quote of him saying this.

Overview of Eric Wolford
Eric Wolford is an American college football coach with over 30 years of experience, primarily as an offensive line (OL) coach in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and other levels, including a brief stint in the NFL. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he played offensive line at Kansas State University before transitioning to coaching. His career began in the late 1980s with assistant roles at smaller programs like Emporia State and Kansas State. He rose through the ranks, serving as OL coach at schools such as Houston, Arizona, Illinois, and South Carolina (2009).b7b183 Wolford was head coach at Youngstown State from 2010 to 2014, where he compiled a 31-26 record.d018ba He then moved to the NFL as assistant OL coach for the San Francisco 49ers (2015-2016).617965
In recent years, Wolford has focused on SEC programs: South Carolina (2017-2019), Alabama (2022-2023), and Kentucky (2020-2021 and 2024-2025).2c643d99fcfc As of December 2025, he has joined Lane Kiffin's staff at LSU as OL coach, replacing Brad Davis, amid efforts to improve the Tigers' rushing attack.108ff7facdd0 This marks his fourth SEC stop in nine years.34a744 Wolford is known for emphasizing physical, heavy offensive lines and has NFL experience, but his tenures have been marked by inconsistent results.
Opinions on Eric Wolford
Opinions on Wolford are polarized, particularly among fans and analysts in college football communities. Positive views highlight his extensive experience, recruiting skills, and endorsements from high-profile coaches like Nick Saban (who hired him at Alabama) and Lane Kiffin (his current boss at LSU).d77c79 Some see him as a "huge get" for programs due to his SEC pedigree and ability to attract talent, with trust in Kiffin's judgment suggesting he could improve underperforming units.243f7e892b88 For instance, his hiring at LSU has been praised as a significant addition to Kiffin's overhaul.57356b
However, criticism is widespread, especially from Kentucky fans where his recent stints (2020-2021 and 2024-2025) saw the Wildcats' offensive line struggle with pass protection, run blocking, and overall development.648886 Detractors call him an "awful" coach who "fails upward," pointing to poor performances at Alabama (where the line underperformed despite talent), Kentucky (described as "god awful" in recent years), and South Carolina.af61a5 Common complaints include his units' inability to protect quarterbacks or open running lanes, a philosophy that prioritizes size over agility, and a tendency to "ruin" elite groups.b470f53eacbc Some view his LSU move as a "disaster" or "tank job," with fans relieved he's left Kentucky and warning others about his loyalty and recruiting hype not matching on-field results.647865b341b0 Overall, while his resume impresses on paper, on-field outcomes have led to a reputation as a mediocre developer who benefits from strong head coaches.

There's plenty of examples of mid tier and lower tier schools having good OLs. Kentucky plays in the SEC their pool of talent they have to choose from is better than most schools even being a low tier SEC school. Maybe just maybe the coaching wasn't good. Just like Davis where you had

You're not going to convince them. Kiffin took the easy route hiring wolford instead of going out and scouting a better coach.
