Drink sucks because he can’t beat Bama but losing to a qb that retired from football with eligibility left or a bunch on non scholarship players at a service academy doesn’t matter. Got it

You’re a retard brother

Missouri has had 9 players drafted over the last two drafts.

LSU has had 14 players drafted.

"loaded" roster is just lol. Drinkwitz generally has really good OL and solid skill players, because he has a solid offensive foundation in place year to year. He builds solid teams year to year but you hold that against him, despite going 21-4 over the last two seasons lmao

I’ve seen Golesh and Kiffin beat teams they weren’t supposed to beat. I’ve never seen Drink win as the underdog. Your buddy Lester is the one who brought up who Drink was losing against you fricking simp

You really haven’t though is the thing

And you’ve seen them both lose games as double digit favorites that eliminated them from playoff contention… which is way worse for the record

Yes you have, you just don’t want it to be true

We will be fine.

Sure… like in 2023 when Drink had the number 9 team in the country and lost at home 49-39 to a LSU team who had one of the worst defenses in SEC history? Way to go above and beyond Drink

Drinkwitz isn't my 1st choice, but is a strong candidate if LSU strikes out on Kiffin.

Created success (vs inherted) : Check
Good offensive foundation & understanding: check
sustained winning: check
hires good assistants: check
good talent evaluator: check

The same LSU team that had a the heisman trophy winner. 2024 Ole Miss lost to Kentucky with Brock Vandegriff at quarterback and an 8-5 Florida team to eliminate themselves at the playoff.

And for the record, I still think Lane is a good coach, I’m just pointing out how retarded yall are

Missouri had 527 yards of offense in this game.

Can’t argue…and the “hires good assistants” should be coupled with “has a great eye for talent” as he has brought in some legit skill players that were under the radar….Kewan Lacy, Luther Burden, Ahmad Hardy off the top of my head

I think the inherent advantages at LSU would raise the ceiling on what Drink can accomplish as a coach

Me too. I always enjoy Lester’s perspective. He’s one of the most knowledgeable posters on the site imo. Gives a fair, objective take on things

Not trying to sell Chickie, but a negative echo chamber has been built against this guy and it is not warranted.

He's built a little coaching tree in 5 seasons:

quote:

Blake Baker - LSU DC
Steve Wilks - NFL DC
Bush Hamdan- Boise / Kentucky OC
Casey Woods- SMU OC
DJ Smith- App St DC
Marcus Johnson- Ohio St OL assistant
Zac Woodfin- Tenn Titans S&C

He has developed some elite skill position guys:

quote:

-He has had two(soon to be 3) different RB's lead the SEC in rushing(Badie / Schraeder), and a WR (Luther Burden) that would have done it if not for Malik Nabers. Kewan Lacy, recruited by Drinkwitz and now at Ole Miss, will finish 2nd in the SEC in rushing.

His OL's have been really strong:

quote:

Right now, has OT2 & OT3 tackle in the SEC, as rated by PFF.

- That is after having the OT2 & OT6 in the SEC in 2024.

Membou went 1.7 in the 24' draft.

Missouri has been a bit of a farm system for other teams, both coaches and players. And he has been able to sustain success despite losing key players and coaches.

Yes, he gets paid a lot. Missouri pays him to sustain what he has built. I agree with Kiffin, when he says "prestige still matters". It does. At the end of the day, it is still Missouri. Not being able to consistently beat the best teams is not something I put a ton of stock in.

How is Wilks, Hamdan, and Casey woods under his "coaching tree?"

I do agree he makes great hires when coaches get plucked off his staff. He also recruits good players. His teams are always solid. I think he is perfect for Missouri and he should stay there.

Thing was, it’s wasn’t his idea. His AD (at the time) made him hire an OC and give up play calling duties. Bush Hamdan took over play call duties first, but Drink wouldn’t give him the full authority over the offense and they decided it was best for him to move on, so he took the Boise State gig. Kirby came in and saved his career at Mizzou tbh, and the numbers and record back that up. His Kirby hire worked out for him NO DOUBT, but he also famously got rid of Ryan Walters to go out and get Steve Wilks as DC and it was a total failure.

we could do a lot worse. If Drink had this roster at LSU this year we would be in the top 10 headed for a playoff. There are few coaches that I am confident that could do that. He comes off as a putz, but he would be our putz. I feel he is the football coach that is most similar to JJ. Measured, analytical and competitive.
