Was listening to Moscona earlier can’t remember if it was on AFR or something else but he was talking about the OC search and how coach O was receiving some input on the hire from Joe Brady and apparently one of the names was Mangas. So how would you guys feel about this hire at OC or PGC (not sure how it would work)

That is what I thought. No chance he becomes oc. Maybe pgc. But not sold on that with him. Need him to do good without being Brady’s coffee runner(jk)

Just went back and looked and it was worse than I thought

Mangas spent three seasons as a running backs coach, and then was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2017. At the time, he was the second-youngest offensive coordinator across Division I.

In 2018, William & Mary ranked 121st out of 124 teams at the FCS level with 13.6 points per game, and the Tribe ranked 122nd with 241.5 total yards per game.

I’m certainly not advocating hiring Mangas, but I won’t hold that one year against him. He was very young and has coached with Brady the last two years.

Who knows how much freedom he even had to implement his own plays or system, or even if the team just sucked?

Mangas was the third man in the booth with E and Brady. Would like to see him at PGC before jumping straight into OC.

He's listed as a 'coaching assistant' with the Panthers, but haven't found anything more specific. I'd guess he's Brady's assistant.

I don’t think anyone is advocating for that. I would assume Mangas knows that he has to get out of Brady’s shadow to ever gain any traction to advance his own career.

Not sure if he’s ready for even PGC at this point.

Calloway has substantially more experience and success than him, and it’s thought by many that he’s not ready,

Why do you say this? HC's routinely look for input from coaches they personally know on suggestions for hires.

DJ might be ready soon, but if my job was depending on it, I don’t think the smartest.

Wow didn’t realize it was that bad but to be fair he was young and he was coaching William and Mary. Maybe he learned some things being with Brady but that being said with this being such a big hire. OC is a bit of a stretch

Why?? Because Brady said he was good??? Fuxk that, he sucked really really bad his one year as OC, I'm talking one of the worst in cfb.

He also isn't a proven recruiter. Let him go cut his teeth somewhere else. This isn't like he was some amazing player in the nfl for 20 years. He doesn't have a bunch of super bowl rings to flash.

Nobody, not one single person, can give one legit reason for him to come here even as a pgc.

Calloway was actually a very very good OC, and many say he doesn't have enough experience. Why in the hell would you want Mangas then? Because Brady said so?

Look Brady was good, but please realize he had a 1st rounder at every skill position and 3 olineman that are starting as rookies. Chill out with thinking he is bill Walsh.
