Assuming this is true, I'm not a fan of recommendations from other coaches who have no skin in the game. Supposedly that is how we wound up with Pelini. No skin off Brady's arse if his buddy Mangas comes to LSU and flops. These types of recommendations are almost guaranteed to be half arse with almost no thought given to them. Nick Saban recommended Houston Nutt to be his successor at LSU for God's sake.

A hire hasn’t been made yet..... why are you assuming O “can’t find someone on his own”?
Why would you not ask people you respect to give you some names to interview. If I’m looking for a new hire in any industry I’m going to reach out to people I trust for suggestions and then I’m going to interview until I find the guy.
Considering we don’t have any new hires now that appears like that’s what’s happening. Why are you melting?

Why would you buy get a recommendation from someone really successful in your industry? We do it all the time in business. Would be stupid not to.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Maybe Brady didn't recommend Mangas. I don't know and neither do you.
But it just gets silly.
Poster 1: "I heard X might happen."
Poster 2: "Oh shite, X would be horrible. Orgeron is an idiot. I can't believe he's doing that. He sucks"
Note: X never happens, and was never going to happen. Poster 1 made it up. Poster 2 discussed X as if it was a factual occurrence, rather than a baseless rumor.
