But it’s Vandy.

Coaching Defense at Vandy is a different animal than coaching defense here.

Exactly, not even apples to oranges, like Steak or Redfish to plain Cauliflower. Need to look at his Stanford Defenses, at least Stanford is committed to football. Vandy?????

His resume is actually quite solid.

There was a lot of smoke that the reason he was fired before the season ended was because he pushed back on playing her. It wasn’t his decision. Not that any of that matters because there is a 0.00000% chance LSU ever plays a girl.

He's my main man among defensive coaches.

Upvote.

No it wasn't, Vandy has a woke Feminist AD. That is where that decision came from. He fought it, has his hand forced, said screw it, and they fired him even though the support they gave that program is pathetic.

I like Mason and I don't like Ryan Clark or BLM.

Did I just blow your mind?

Accommodating!!! This is simply disgraceful and tasteless. Remarks like this only arrive when a black person is considered for an opportunity!! Time to progress your thinking!!

Or just hire the best person regardless of color.

What position will mason coach? He coached DBs while DC at stanford.

He coached DB's at Stanford and 3 years in NFL with Vikings. Could handle Safeties and be DC, Corey handles CB/Recruiting Coordinator, then you hire a LB and DL coach.

The dude has had multiple stops in P5 calling his own Defense as both a Coordinator and a Head Coach. He took Vandy to a Bowl Game as a HC after firing his DC mid-year in a make-or-break season and assuming DC Playcalling and flat out said, "I can do it better myself," and then put his money where his mouth was.

Put his job on the line and cut nuts and led Vandy to a bowl-season after he did it.

You know not of what you speak. But don't let that stop you from posting more.

...and for anyone of you other Rantards who wanna DV, geaux right ahead. This guy would be an amazing addition for a number of reasons before you get to the fact that he's a badass defensive playcaller that's done it all.

I'll say this again: He took Vandy to a bowl game. Not just one, either. He took VANDY to two bowl games.

Think about how effing difficult that is, people.

He has run a 30 front and a 40 front scheme in the P5 and been successful. He was known as the guy who began figuring out the Spread Concepts before anyone else and shifted alignments to do it.

He's also been an NFL Position Coach and has more chops than our Head Coach from both the NFL, DC and Head Coaching perspectives*

*I'm not saying he's better. Really just pointing out the abject idiocy and ignorance amongst the userbase of this website.

A lot of people don't realize this now, but Mason would be a homerun hire as a defensive coordinator.

I’m on the fence about him. It’s fine if he was contacted to gauge his interest in interviewing, but hopefully we don’t put all our eggs in one basket as we have in the past. If Orgeron screws up his new coordinator hires, they will be his last.

He's 27-55 as a HC.. he has to take responsibility for the defense at some point in time.

We dont need a desperate DC.

Here's a thought....

Maybe, JUST, Maybe... Mason is the only coach, so far, that O can reach out to?? Probably because some are still in season. Ya think? You guys need to to chill the frick out. Sheesh...You arm chair AD's and couch coaches keep saying what O MUST do in order to appease you, should apply to be on staff. If not, then STFU, and let it play itself out. Damn!
