I've been saying for a long while that he would make a great candidate to be DC, if Saleh didn't land a job. It was at least worth a phone call.
All I heard was "No play call experience." Well.. It's not as important as you think.

Never denied that. Most coaches do.
However, to sit behind Saleh for another year or go get a year/two of DC experience at SEC school would be my pitch to him. It might not have worked, but it worth a phone call.
Saleh left, he got promoted.

You can say this about every single guy on the market right now. They’ve either never ran a defense, or they haven’t ran a defense at this level, or they failed as a head coach somewhere, or they’re too old, or they’re too young.
Get the frick over yourself.
There are two sure things in college football. Nick Saban and Urban Meyer. They are the ONLY two people who have proven that they can go anywhere in the college landscape and be successful.
Every one else is a risk. That’s the nature of the game so quit sitting there waiting for a homerun that you can’t even name.
