Stop buying into the narrative that this guy is a great coach. He's had 2 good years at the P5 level with a Heisman runner up signal caller. Other than that, he coached at Fresno State and the NAIA. What is the NAIA, you ask? It's basically playing little sisters of the blind each week. Weekly attendance of 500 to 1,500 people to watch the games. I think Alabama Pop Warner football has more people come to the games

That 104 and 12 record that Alabama is drooling over? 67 of those wins came in the Great Plain Athletic Conference of the NAIA. Sure, he had a 93% winning percentage... against powerhouses like Hastings college, at Hastings, Nebraska, in front of a paid attendance of 500.

His first championship in 2006 featured many games like the one against the Hastings Broncos. There was the hard fought victory against Briar Cliff, the dramatic win against Dana college, and the shutout of Dakota Wesleyan in front of 815 people...

Kalen DeBoer will find out week one that Jalen Milroe is no Michael Pennix, and the culture and fans at Alabama will eat him alive after losing game one to Georgia, much less a mediocre season.

He's probably a good coach

but someone pointed out that this Washington team was full of super seniors who took the Covid year...

they're going to be a 4-5 loss team next year, they're losing everyone

if I am wrong I am wrong, I don't follow them

It's like saying hey man, I dominated my 5th grade basketball league. I was undefeated - yeah ok - It's 5th freaking grade.

Thats my point, he's a small town guy with really no idea of what he's getting into. Even University of Washington is really nothing like Alabama, and he was only there 2 years.

Have you heard Nick Saban pump station stories while Ms Terry was still in school?

No, it’s actually nothing like that. He was coaching in a league and conference against players just like the players he was coaching. It doesn’t matter if it is NAIA, Juco, high school, etc. Having a record like he does is is pretty telling of his coaching acumen.

DeBoer is a good coach. Regardless of that, he’s not going to live up to expectations because Saban set those expectations so high that nobody can reach them but him.

Coach Kelly has two national championships... in D-II. I guess those should be completely ignored as part of his career.

DeBoer is 3-0 against Oregon coach Dan Lanning,

2-0 against Texas coach Steve Sarkisian

2-0 against USC coach Lincoln Riley.

This is completely true. Saban was the best and he got criticized sometimes. I don’t care who they got they weren’t going to be saban and very likely will fail at the job to keep the football team near this level.

not only that, but I decided to go look it up. The team he coached while in NAIA was like 34-3 the 3 years before he took over. So it isn't like he went in and created a juggernaut.

Are you in denial Bama got a great coach? He’ll have them winning big in a couple of seasons.

People are trying way too hard to discredit this hire

Guy is a good coach

Will he succeed at Bama? That remains to be seen

This is a really misleading stat. Covid year they went 3-1 and the next season fired Jimmy lake because of shoving a player mid season. Understandably the team quit and didn’t win a subsequent game that year.

The year before was chris petersons last year 8-5 but followed a playoff appearance a fiesta bowl and rose bowl and 3 straight top 15 seasons.
