Probably to announce new head coach.

It’s Heupel

1. A sitting head coach with multiple ten win seasons.
2. Former successful SEC OC that’s ranked top-6 nationally the last 3 years with his new team.
3. Former successful college QB.
Found that somewhere else.
Being the dumpster fire that Tennessee is, it’s laughable that Tennessee fans think they can do better.

Gonna defend Vols a little here.
Heupel took over a very strong UCF program left him by Frost and it has gotten worse each year.
Him being a successful college QB means absolutely nothing in terms of his coaching ability.
This hire should not excite anyone except rival fans.

I get not being excited but there really aren’t any great options for Tennessee. Too many dark clouds for an established coach to want that job

That’s fine and I don’t necessarily disagree. But that doesn’t mean they have to pretend this is a great hire.

Reports are coming out that the deal is finalized

It’s not a good hire at all. I get fans doing the mental gymnastics to convince themselves it’s a good hire. It’s happening right now with the LSU dc hire.
Posted on 1/27/21 at 7:11 am to Bham Bammer
I agree it’s not a great hire, but it’s about the best Tennessee can do right now.

I don’t understand the outrage, he’s had one of the top offenses in the country ever since he took over at UCF, Even before that when he was at Mizzou. Multiple 10 win win seasons as well. Idk who y’all wanted to get but this is probably the best possible scenario

The Vols are the broken hearted female who just realized Fulmer has cheated and treated them like crap since started dating
Posted on 1/27/21 at 7:48 am to 1999
I’m afraid this means UCF will hire Lebby
Posted on 1/27/21 at 7:49 am to HappyTigerDay
That's what i think happened.
He tried for the clemson oc and mr. Row your boat.
I'm sure he called a few other guys too.

Should’ve gone all in on Bill Clark

Right, their last 3 coaches are Dooley, Butch Jones, and Pruitt and they’re about to get hit with sanctions.

If he is the best they could do, and a dozen candidates in front of him all said no, then I believe I would’ve named Kevin Steele interim coach for the season, awaited the NCAA sanctions, and search for a higher regarded coach for next season once the uncertainty of sanctions had been lifted.

bingo. now they are stuck in a long term contract with heupel and will have to pay yet another buyout in 3-4 years.
