he did say Mullen is a legit second-tier candidate to consider.
This I can agree with. He's not A-list but we could do a lot worse.

That was the gist of the conversion at that point. Gary mentioned Mullen as an option after the obvious Herman/Fisher duo.

Meh...maybe should get consideration IF Herman doesn't take it.

How come Florida didn't scoop him up?

Mullen didn't get an interview at UF when he had MSU humming. That's all I need to know about him.
Posted on 9/26/16 at 7:32 pm to Jack Ruby
It's just weird that no one has ever given him an interview. Makes you think that something is wrong.

Mullen should be a consideration if we miss out on Herman. We aren't going to get Fisher, and Petrino, Briles, and Kiffen shouldn't even be considerations.
So after that, and staying in reality (Saban, Myer, Carrol, and Harbaugh aren't coming here) and if we miss on Herman for whatever reason then we need a list of coaches to consider.
I would put Mullen right in the mix with guys like Chris Klieman (n Dakota coach). What about Major Applewhite? Larry Fedora, U of North Carolina.
Need to interview these kind of guys. Look at the resume, but mainly look at the person that he is and if he is the right fit.
Could be some NFL assistant or college OC that really blows it away when you take a closer look at him.
Mullen might be that type and is a coach to consider.

Maybe he said NO??
Some coaches may feel a sense of loyalty to the program that gave them their big break
Especially if you have DAK at the time

Possibly... He's definitely intriguing. I'd put him on the list to interview.

Of course a Bama fan wants Mullen at LSU.

Mullen won't come to LSU. You don't have any 95 lbs running backs to run straight up the middle.

LSU fans are just adorable. He would be a homerun for LSU.
