It's been two days and their fans are starting to panic.

I always felt we wouldn't fire Jimbo without knowing who would come next. I never felt we would burn $100 million without a plan. Apparently, that is what has happened. Many of what should be our top targets are publicly pulling themselves out of contention. I don't think our decision-makers expected this.

My solution to this problem is unconventional. Emotion and pride need to be taken out of the equation. Our players are paid. This is a business now.

We need to bring back Jimbo. He is getting paid, so he has to come back. The consistency of retaining him will protect our roster from the portal and keep our excellent recruiting class intact. Talent trumps everything now in cfb and this matters more than our collective ego.

I’m not referring to Campbell in particular

I was referring to the reality that the money isn’t there

That’s been reported by every media outlet and beat writer who covers our program from the moment Jimbo was fired. Not exactly some hot take

Oh it’s a reality and it’s yes it’s known by people who have common sense.

So y’all can take off a lot of the people being thrown around because they’re not leaving for your Walmart budget

You seem so sensitive. Why are you guys getting so edgy lol

Our fans are used to a faction of boosters having a replacement lined up the moment a coach is fired because that’s how it’s always happened with us (and it clearly hasn’t worked). The dumber part of our fanbase doesn’t understand that other, smarter athletic departments actually vet candidates and interview them.

We’re A&M, so we could clearly frick this up, but I’m choosing to look at us conducting an actual search as a positive for the time being. And I think a lot of our fans feel the same way.

So a guy that has a long-time underperforming NFL team leading their division and becoming a real threat to go deep in the playoffs, isn't going to bail for a college job?

Total surprise there.

Kind of obvious. He played for the Lions and he has that team trending in the right direction. Why leave when you have a bright future?

Why would anyone would leave the NFL for a college job especially when you’re coaching one of the best teams in the league currently. The life of a professional coach is 10x better than that of a college coach. You don’t have to recruit, coach spring ball, and especially, don’t have to deal with dumb 18-22 year olds

Campbell would kill it in College Station. Glad, he isn't interested.

Positive signs of smarter decision making. They’ve handled the Jimbo firing and promoting a Elijah Robinson pretty well so far…

Someone in the Coaching Changes board said we would HAVE to contact Campbell.

I disagreed because it seemed like there was no interest on his part as he never did the college circuit.

Well, I guess we did indeed contact him out of due diligence and he predictably said no.

Go figure.
