Health has been fine since he had a bypass, and he's not a long term option anyway. He obviously handled the pressure just dandy at Ole Miss, if you look at his record there (and the fact that it's Ole Miss).

the demand of a coach are 24 hours a day. Pretty sure Manning will not be doing that. He is making more money then a HC is right now with all his endorsements and TV adds. Duh. And he does not have to get out of his PJ's

Technically, mine would be Mike Leach. Because "fat little girlfriends" and general awesomeness.
But this combo is a better idea. Must be, because apparently nobody has an actual reason it's not a good one. Lane Kiffin? Really? The guy who's shite the bed every time he's had a head coaching job? I'm 100% down with Herman. Hell, I'm down with Petrino over Kiffin.
And to answer the "why would Peyton...?" comment....because he doesn't need money at this point, and because he probably misses the game. As stated in OP. It's been his whole life, and he's a competitive guy. Slingin' pizza and doing commentary doesn't compare.
Regardless...don't care whether he *would*. It's just an idea. The premise is....*if* he (they) would, why wouldn't this be a great idea? Can't hurt to explore.

Has he kept up with the game? Seems like no, but maybe I'm wrong. Plus, a lot of his game even when he played was based on athleticism vs being a student of the game. Shrug.
