So that Walt Bell kid from Dickson County/Middle Tennessee, he wanted so badly to be a head coach at a very young age, and so he took a terrible job to achieve that goal.

There's a whole bunch of old arse coaches who will tell you they wished a mentor had told them to slow it down decades previous

Many of the most ambitious coaches get a better job, and they then automatically begin looking for their next better job before they've even start doing the job they just got


I think Bell has some real offensive play-calling talent, so he will land on his feet, but I'd bet he's kicking himself for taking that crap job at UMass


ETA: plus he hired quite a few UMass grads onto the staff there, guys he'd never coached with in the past, and I guess his thinking was it was an olive branch to UMass alumni? I wonder if it helped him get stabbed in the back, because the interim now is a former UMass player he hired only this year.
