anyone know what the deal was today with Whipple being reported by ESPN to be interviewing for the Maryland HC gig?

I thought Edsall got that job.

Whipple's interviewing for Edsall's old job at UCONN

If we do not give the OC at Houston at least a look, we have failed at finding the best candidate. This guys offense was 23rd n the nation this past year, 1st in 2009, 3rd in 2008, and 4th in 2007. Explosive with mediocre talent. Imagine if this guy had the horses we have here.

99% sure this was his first year as their OC.

Frick I somehow missed this thread for 4 hours. Would have relaxed me a little earlier.

I'm sure Harsin and Applewhite are Co-OC's in name only. That's Harsin's job.

ETA: Really sucks about Harsin, that hire probably would have won a lot of people over.

I wonder what Les' opinion of Crowton is off the record?

I just wonder if he is doing this to appease the fan base

Something tells me Crowton can coach and play call if he has the right QB and personnel

First year as the OC on his own, correct. Co-OC last year. Up and coming for sure.

Coaching Experience
2010 - • Houston • Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers
2008-09 • Houston • Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers/Recruiting Coordinator
2007 • Baylor • Inside Receivers/Recruiting Coordinator

Miles wanted Gary gone last year.

AD didn't want to pay buyout.

UM fired RRod

Miles used that opening to strong-arm AD to get rid of Gary.

I base this on nothing other than my own intuition.

The Pirate always had an inside receivers coach on his staff. Lincoln Riley, who called the plays in the bowl after Leach was fired, was the inside receivers coach at Tech. He is now OC at ECU.
