The question was could Saban have similar success there... Not why has Texas underachieved relative to their potential historically.

The odds are slim that he would surpass what he's done at Bama.

Compare the population size of Louisiana to those states...amazing...

What exactly are we delusional about? Texas is not of the all time great programs. They would not be in the top 5. You can Google it if you want

Seriously, outside of Texas fans and fans that hate Bama and want Saban gone, no one perceives Texas as the mecca of college football

Alabama has more than 802 victories.

Not weighing in on the topic itself because the premise is asinine no matter which side you come down on.

The numbers are interesting, though. Particularly this one:

quote:

Texas
Ranked in AP Poll: 50 Times (Preseason), 46 Times (Final)

Alabama
Ranked in AP Poll: 47 Times (Preseason), 50 Times (Final)

The preseason/final numbers are almost exact opposites...

Huh.

What does this have to do with UT or UA? Not all of those guys stay in state and play for the state university

Well no kidding it's difficult to win 3 out of 4,but it's what HE has done(along with a couple of breaks in the system like 11 and osu being on probation last year). It's not like Bama's history of 10 win seasons or bear Bryant had anything to do with that.

Saban would have every advantage he had at Bama and then some more in Austin, so I wouldn't bet against him winning a few titles if he maintains the same amount of intensity in the way he approaches things.

Whatever you are referring to would be purely subjective. You keep saying that aren't a great program but offer nothing substantive to support your opinion. Ut is an alltime great program without the history of cheating (multiple visits to probation land)

Well i was under the impression that all of his success at Bama was due to luck. I guess he won't need luck at Texas huh?

I'd like to see the Aggie and Arkansas take on this from the old SWC days. A lot of programs were doing a lot of cheating back then.

I don't claim to know, personally.

You have to be trolling.

Do you really want me to pull up the yearly recruiting rankings between the two schools before Saban got to Alabama? Saban is a great coach but what makes him a legendary coach is the fact that he works tirelessly in recruiting and plays with a superior team almost every single game he coaches in. Look at the differences between his first seasons at Alabama and LSU and every year after that.

So is it the program or the coach?

No doubt it is the program. The coach has very little to do with the actual success of the program.

That is why I am perplexed at the recent raise offered to the coach of the Alabama program.

How is a much weaker schedule an advantage? I'll let you think about that for a moment.

Well, at least you aren't saying we're overrated.
