I think he's a good coach, notwithstanding his status as Mack Brown's scapegoat.

didn't understand why he wasn't on our radar. maybe he was too far into negotiations.

Not saying he is the second coming, but he is a good DC. The Texas days IMO are not an indicator of his ability. A reason to ask a lot of questions, but not a stop sign.

Didn't his D give up some insane number...like 600 yards rushing...to BYU? I remember he went on a terrible string at Texas where the D looked like it quit.

Could be an aberration because he seemed solid outside of that season.

they had the worst defense in Texas history that year.

There are quite a few high profile losses where the defense absolutely quit and acted like contact was scary. Not trying to hate.

So maybe that really is just an indictment of Mack Brown's Texas program and not Diaz?

Won't argue numbers or results at other places...

Manny is a great coach. Very smart. I hate losing him. He says that for his defense to work, the players must be unselfish. Tech had 25 different players record a TFL this year. No one on our defense had great stats and only 1 guy made 1st team All-Conference even though Tech had the best defense in the conference.

I think that was probably the problem at Texas.

Same guy fired by Mack Brown for his horrible defenses at Texas.

Which is funny, because the rant would have burned down Tiger Stadium if we went with him.

He inherited a lot of really good players that one year at State. I am a little surprised Mullen hired him back after he left us but I suspect given the prospects out there, I suppose it's about as good as we could do. Can't be any worse than that abortion of a defense we watched in the Orange Bowl. I am not excited but I am not despondent over it either.
