I was always under the impression that Saban would leave (either for another team or retirement) in such a way that Smart would smoothly transition into the job.

Hopefully it's Jamies and half of Fsu's team under arrest. Put $10 to win $275 on duke money line today just in case.

"Shock the world"

A little shocking only from the standpoint that it's so sudden. I was thinking Saban would leave after this season especially if he won it all again. There really is nothing left for him to prove at Alabama so best wishes and thanks for the memories. Promote Kirby and keep the staff intact for a smooth transition.

Meh, the guy has been hitting the recruiting trail hard this week. I highly doubt he would be doing so if he planned on taking a new job so quickly.

Know for a fact Saban was in Meridian, MS today recruiting. So if he's leaving he's putting up a good front.

Saban was on the trail for LSU two days before he accepted the Miami job.

That's what I don't get. He just got us another two 4 star recruits.

Unless Terry Saban is doing the negotiating and making the decision. Haha.

Its Cowherd...he is garbage, 100%...he knows a lot of crap is stirring around and wants a bump in ratings. Don't entertain this jackass. He is a tool.

He doesn't need to be Austin to accept the job. There are phones. More likely, his agent is coordinating everything with his blessing and can make an acceptance any numbers of ways, including by email,l with the Texas side.

I'm honestly not trolling when I say this but I could see Saban trying leave as graciously as possible by helping to load up on recruits for Kirby. Leaving at any time for a new school is always tough to do graciously so this may be Saban's last act of appreciation towards Alabama and his successorCKS.

Nick Saban isn't going anywhere. The ones that are so confident that it will happen are the ones that desperately want it to happen.

If he were to leave now would be the time. New QB era at Bama and Texas supposedly offering big time money.

I don't think he's leaving either and will just retire at Alabama in a few years.
