Coaching Candidate List by Tiers (plan)

Pipe Dream Candidates
* Urban Meyer
* Nick Saban
* Chris Peterson
These guys all say no, so no further discussion needed.
Top Candidates (But timing issues or unlikely)
* Matt Rhule
* Brian Kelly
* Luke Fickell
Rhule is great but no way we can wait for him. So he either has to Petrino the panthers or he is a no go.
Kelly is old (60) and he probably has no interest to leave ND. Plus his baggage is
Fickell is possible. No Major Midwest jobs exist now, so we're the biggest job left unless he wants NFL. If he makes the playoffs though, the timing won't work.
Decent Tier if the guys above say no
* Matt Campbell
* Dave Aranda
* Lane Kiffin
Campbell is probably going to turn us down and he isn't that strong on paper. I think he is waiting for the NFL.
Aranda would be a solid hire. Gotta worry he will turn us down and stay in the Big 12 knowing Texas and OU are leaving.
Kiffin would be a great hire and I can't imagine him wanting to stay at Ole Miss over us. The connection to O is bad, but his offense is great and he will have great talent to run it.
shite Tier (if the guys above all say no, well we're fricked)
* Mark Stoops
* Bill O'Brien
* Dave Clawson
* Gus Malzahn
* Hugh Freeze
* Dave Doeren
Anyone I miss?

The list of actual candidates is starting to become depressing

Mike Gundy.
Why not at this point.

Who else is there? We lost only one guy in Riley. Gotta stop comparing everyone to Saban.

I like Gundy, but his team may very well make the playoffs, so timing would be difficult.
However the #1 problem with him is he is at his Alma Mater. I doubt he wants to leave---especially with his conference becoming a shite ton easier.
Also the OAN fiasco could pose some political problems that our rivals would almost certainly exploit.

The tiered ranking system.
Off the charts but forever in your hearts.

I’d start looking at Coordinators after the second tier.
Lanning
Elko has been good for a while now.

Chris Peterson is a pipe dream?

YOu know, often overlooked but many coaches were coordinators at big conferences.
I'd be happier with Elko over Stoops or BOB. If we can't get Aranda, Fickell, or Kiffin, then I'd be open to Elko.

Yes. Not because he is above us or anything like that. I legit think he just doesn't have any interest in getting back into coaching. But you make him say no.

Hopefully you're trolling.

I'm not fond of it, but I guess he is better than BOB.

I know Everyone wants proof that they can be a HC but almost all the guys we want were P5 Coordinators before they were a HC.

True. I think it's possible we need to look at successful coordinators. UGA staff?
Posted on 11/28/21 at 7:33 pm to SiriusBraveFan
We’re too good to do what OU, Ohio’s State And UGA did.

Our DC did pretty good last half of season. Jones is his name I think, or even our OC Petz looked good last night.
