It could be a nasty formation with all the safety talent incoming.

How does the front look in this? Seems like a traditional 3-4 front 3 right ? If it isn't multiple then we don't fit that very well with how we've recruited last 2 years, and ika not here to pair with guillory at nose if it is similar.

They use all 3 defenses

They line up in 3-4 a bunch with a jack linebacker

The 3-3-5 is their nickel

I really like the idea of Nielsen. With both him and O being DL guys, and his philosophy on stopping the run before anything else it makes a ton of sense.

I’m torn. Cincy doesn’t see SEC offenses week to week. Lou Tepper, Jr?

At Vandy, Mason did. But he couldn't stop SEC offenses.

Freeman is a great option and has that energy we need.

Mason is a non-starter with too many other high quality options out there.

By the way, F Ryan Clark. If he wants to pick coordinators he should get out of the booth and become a coach.

as I said yesterday, the Mason stuff coming out so early is a smoke screen

I don't know that as fact, but I have followed coaching change/searches since TD started up.

a lot of moving pieces (staff changes) are happening all across the country...

sometimes you have to be lucky and you certainly have to be patient.

If you want a tryout, Cinncinnati plays UGA in the Peach Bowl on Jan 1. Freeman will get to defend JT Daniels version of UGA. Also will be interesting to see what he does with that bigass UGA OL.

Freeman hasn’t done anything outside of Fickell who is the defense’s architect and also a LB guru.

I’m not saying he’ll suck, but we don’t know how he’ll do on his own.

You can still get 7 guys in the box with a 3-3-3. The games you can play with your 3 safeties are amazing. Move those safeties close to the line, back, a dizzying array of combo coverages. Yeah you might have 3 guys at 10 yards off the ball but if they are worth their salt at all they can close space in the run game. Usually unblocked. This would have been an ideal defense for a Jacoby Stevens type of player

I just hope O really interviews the men he is considering. He needs to evaluate their personality, energy and the X's and O's of their scheme vs modern offenses.

Especially if you think stingley and ricks are good to take out a guy 1 on 1, you can do disgusting things with the rest of your coverage with 3 safeties. Also it’s tough on RPOs. Yes you can give up some in the inside run game if you don’t like your linebackers
