this is easily the worst hire of the offseason

he's supposed to be a DB's guy. Tevin Mitchell went from being so bad they were talking about redsirting him for his senior year because we didn't' need him to being drafted by the Redkins once Ash left

Why would you leave a coordinator job Ohio State for the head gig at Rutgers? Was Myer running him out of Columbus?

You really think being a coordinator is better than a job as a Big-10 head coach?

Even at Rutgers?

I dunno, being a coordinator at Ohio State is pretty good. I bet he makes $500-$600k a year and works withtons of NFL-caliber talent. Coaching a bottom-tier Big 10 team, in an area without much of a recruiting pool -- no thanks

Nj has great talent, most just go out of state. Rutgers would be good if they could keep recruits home.

Im indifferent on this hire at the moment, im gonna let it play out before i pass judgement. One bad year as a coordinator doesnt tell me he cant be a good head coach.

Not sure who rutgers fans thought they were gonna get. Im happy they didnt go with schiano, cristobal or golden.

Seriously gus Johnson would have been a better hire

And shite osus d sucks lol. They are stacked with NFL talent and get pushed in regularly. Just think how bad that would be without bosa, Washington, apple and bell

Has he even interviewed anywhere?

I also think it's weird that these successful sunbelt and c-usa coaches aren't looks.

They're skeptical about a lot of things, to be honest. I hate this move, especially with coaches like Golden and Cristobal as potential replacements.

Hiring some no-name nobody? To recruit at Rutgers? Against the Big-Ten? What the hell was the AD thinking?

Those issues are concerning before we factor in the way fans of teams Ash has coached feel about him.

This is a "Rutgers" move if I've ever seen one.

I wasn't impressed at all with Chris Ash as DC at Arkansas. But IMO, this doesn't necessarily mean that he won't be a decent head coach, especially if he hires a good coaching staff.
