He wasn't a failure as a "coach" at Philadelphia. He had them in the playoffs. It was when he started playing General Manager that he lost his grip.
I know the college coach has to be a "general manager" as well, but he's proven very good at doing it on the college level.

Maybe his experience as an NFL head coach will play well when recruiting High school players. If he can recruit at a very high level then I don't see the downside to hiring him. Also, I don't see how a very proficient offense is going to make Aranda want to leave LSU. He would probably be happy to work with an offense that can hold up there side of the ball.

No one is beating Bama by going defense against defense and letting the offense slug it out. The only way to beat them is in a high scoring shootout. They always have a new QB who is going to make mistakes. You have to beat them with fast tempo spread offense.

Not only did he not have a reputation as a great recruiter, it became widely known through out the Pac 12 that he did not like having to do it. What brought in the recruits was the million dollar facilities & perks that was handed to him by one major booster.

If Chip came to Baton Rouge he would create a dynasty. His philosophies combined with the athletes LSU routinely has would destroy the conference.
People taking a shite on his defense need to think a little bit more. You don't mash the reset button on an entire conference by being a one sided team.

Butt slapped(13 points) by the greatest lsu team ever...all while having half of the roster talent, is not bad loss.
Keep in mind, no team besides Bama hung with lsu better than Oregon in 2011.
