cool, you have your three years with Saban I take 15 with Harbaugh.

Or 8 years, heading into year 9 in 2015. Given that Harbaugh is an alumnus, and assuming he takes the job, I could see him at Michigan longer than five years. However, he's still climbing the ladder and not on the back end of a career like Saban. Jim Harbaugh is still only 50 years old afterall.

Exactly. It's more likely than not that JH will not produce what they are envisioning. I see his ceiling as more of a "Milesesque" tenure. Maybe one NC

Harbaugh isn't winning a NC at Michigan.

Why do people act as if he'll pull top classes at the snap of the finger? He had one top 25 class at Stanford.

Because its Michigan. Harbaugh would "fix" Michigan in 2 years. His recruiting classes will be as good as anyone's not named Ohio State or Alabama.
When good coaches get to these types of schools, they play for Conference titles on the regular. When great coaches get to them, they dominate. It is, what it is.

He'll be the Les Miles to Urban, the Saban of the Big 10.

I am not sure if you are trolling or if you are really stupid enough to believe this??

He beat USC at Stanford. When asked why he went for 2 ahead by 30 in the 4th quarter he said they would not let him go for 3. He will crush Urban...

O% chance of failure...IMO

He makes Michigan instantly relevant and single handedly makes the Big 10 attractive for players, coaches, and the media again.

SEC has enjoyed dominant teams over the last decade. Because the number of athletes in the Southeast, that shouldn't change. However, this hire would instantly slow that progression of dominance down.

I wouldn't doubt it if the total value of UM's athletic department increased by 10% with this hire alone, IF it goes through.

With UM still having a relatively easy FB schedule, I see them being annual playoff contender very soon.

Well, this thread has become relevant again. Those of you who felt as though he wasn't going to UM at all, how do you feel now?

dude's gonna have to mellow out a bit for his longevity. he's gonna build Michigan up, they're gonna win, and then he'll be old for his methods. i can't see him becoming a Spurrier or Snyder type personality, and he'll never have the gravitas that kept Joe Pa around

He's their best option. It's a difficult place to win but if anyone can, it's him.

If failure is rated by not winning Big 10 Titles and major bowls, i would say chance of failure (assuming he stays more than 5 years) is 10%..

If failure is rated by not winning National Championships, i would put it 99.9%...he had better NFL teams and did not get it done. Hell Michigan has won what since the 70s? Don't give me 98 crap either...they would have been steam rolled by Osbourne Huskers by at 25...look what they did to both UTs...

It will be the best indicator of Michigans potential. If JH can't get it done, I think it says that they will never be a consistent power program again.

He'll recruit well. Michigan brings in nice classes anyway.

He'll have Michigan back to winning 10+ games. I don't know if they make a B1G title game, that depends on the showdowns with Meyer.
