AUBURN, Alabama – Auburn has targeted Chad Morris to fill its offensive coordinator position, sources tell Auburn Undercover. The former Arkansas head coach is the leading candidate to replace Kenny Dillingham, who left for the same position at Florida State on Monday. Auburn is expected to hire Dillingham's successor this week, sources tell Auburn Undercover.

This means we need him to stay there as long as possible. Historically, a program/side of the ball has gotten significantly better after he leaves.

Clemson's offense took off after he left for SMU.

SMU won 10 games 2 seasons after he left.

Arkansas?

The numbers get so drastically better after Morris left, you’d think they had a generational QB on the team or something.

Yeah, 2011. That would be the same season that Clemson lost 70-33 in the Orange Bowl.

Rumors at the time said Steele didn’t like the style of offense because of the disadvantage in time of possession. Considering he’s at Auburn now, either those rumors were incorrect or he adapted.

No surprise. Morris and Gus are very close. Morris succeeded Gus as the OC at Tulsa (which was his jump into college football).

My only question would be is Chad ok with not calling plays? Or is Gus going to give that duty up?

Gus should just let Chas recruit and help implement the game plan.

Something to not overlook in this is this could be package deal for Chad and his son.

His son is a very good 4 star QB out of Dallas that was committed to Arkansas. He had auburn as making an offer as of a few months ago

Keep an eye on that

I hope so.

Some guys cant cut it as head coaches and are better off as coordinators.

Steele, Muschamp, Charlie Strong, Morris... Aranda comes to mind. He seems perfectly content being a DC...

Maybe Morris can actually add some decent passing routes to the offense.

I’m not exaggerating that Chad is the worst offense coach Ive ever seen in football. Completely clueless.

Dabo made him look good.

He seemed to do pretty well at his last OC stop

Maybe but just because someone is an excellent OC doesnt mean they will be an excellent HC. Gus was the most dynamic OC in college football when he was our OC. Now as our HC, his offenses are just pure garbage.

There is a LOT more to being a HC than the offense. If he is just in charge of the offense...

Well Chizik was a hell of a DC. Failed as a HC, and was again a good DC. Same with Muschamp.

Just because you guys pulled the plug after less than 2 seasons into a complete rebuild doesnt mean he is a bad offensive coach when that's all he is asked to do... well that and recruit.

In 22 games at Arkansas, Morris had 7 different starting QBs.

2 of his first year QBs left and got better, with 1 lighting him up with his new team.

He hand picked his 2 transfers for the second year, and royally screwed up both.

Every team has gotten better when he left.

He should fit in well with Gus then. Gus gave 4 guys snaps vs. Clemson a couple of years ago.
