It’s strange, because, from the outside, he seems to have the personality to prefer the NFL. But he’s been in coaching long enough and is well respected enough that he could have left and already been in the NFL for years if that’s where he wanted to be. My top choice has always been Aranda, he was part of college football’s greatest season and knows football and LSU. Perfect fit.

Fickel was hired at cincy by the current USC AD so don’t think he would come to LSU. Franklin is from Pennsylvania and at a premier school already so why would he leave? That leaves Tucker and Aranda. I’m sure they’re good coaches but neither have much experience as head coaches.

Franklin or Fickell will never win natty at their schools. They may have to deal with unreasonable assholes year after year but I couldn’t imagine being at their level and staying somewhere they know they don’t have a shot at winning it all.

Look at Jay Johnson. Woodward put out all kind of names to keep people off target and Jay Johnson came out of nowhere as the hire. I think we have no idea who it will be.

Really weird to me that everyone swears Fickell doesn’t want to leave Ohio, but is now favoring USC. Ohio is literally the closest thing to a southern state in the midwest, but he’s going to leave for Los Angeles all of the sudden?
