CBS sports reported two hours ago that Woodward is aiming for the fences, whatever that means. Four specific coaches appear to be in LSU’s crosshairs. Franklin from Penn State whom USC and LSU will be in a bidding war for, but LSU may have the upper hand. Fickell from Cincinnati who probably leans USC , and the other two are Mel Tucker and Dave Aranda.

It’s basically down to one of these four guys. I’m guessing Franklin is the leader from the way CBS reported it.

I sort of hope they have other targets.

Franklin would not necessarily be my first choice, but I will welcome him with open arms and give him my full support.

Woodward and his people are masters of disinformation. We have absolutely no idea who this HC will be. Woodward's legacy is on the line with this hire. That being said, of that list, Aranda and Franklin seem the most logical.

If true, I’ll gladly welcome back Aranda, as I don’t think Fickell will come. The jury may still be out on Aranda’s head coaching ability, but not on his intelligence and football acumen. He inspires confidence. My only fear would be the allure of the NFL. I’d want to know where his heart truly lies.

Franklin seems like a bit of a long shot to me. The dude is originally from Pennsylvania. He has a good thing going at Penn State.

Don’t buy it

They lost me when they said he’s swinging for the fences and then said Mel Tucker and Aranda.

The way CBS was reporting it, USC likes Franklin, but he is more likely to go with LSU. And that Fickell is leaning towards USC. Don’t know how true any of this is, I’m just the messenger

I truly think Aranda has an elite football mind.

Tucker I honestly just know from a few coordinator stops in the nfl but in no way is that swinging for the fences.

Aranda would be my top choice. He knows defenses and knows LSU and LSU players and recruits know him.

Some of y'all are clueless.

Woodward probably reached out to several coaches/agents on the top of his list and they said no already.

We may have huge lists that we're posting based off speculation but in reality it's much shorter because he's already been given No answers.

same. Aranda fields a great defense and has proven he can succeed as head coach. I feel like that would be a good bet

They seem a little melty, and are already in “Aranda really wasn’t that good anyway” mode

CBS only named those four, who else would be a big name hire?

Even if that's it, it's already double the number of candidates Alleva had.
