re: Carr Retires as Michigan's Coach...

Jimbo Fisher would be a huge mistake...I haven't heard this name mentioned and it may be worth a shot...Norm Chow...I think the game has passed Spurrier, he's too old to stay for long. We need someone young who may stay with us for a while. There is no guarantee someone with HC experience in the NFL will do good in college.

honorary coonass is right, from page 178 of the 2007 media guide
the O-Line coach from 1983 to 1987 was Pete Mangurian and from 1988 to 1990 it was Kenny Ferro
Jeff Jagodzinski is not listed as a position coach on the all-time list of LSU Asst Coaches

No I think he is done as well he needs to stay at SC.
Also if we do have to replace a head coach I really really don't want Jimbo Fisher he was horrible here at LSU and he is as horrible at FSU.

Has Les already left LSU?
Quit conming up with replacements!
Miles will probably stay at LSU BTW!

No, you are exactly right. We need someone young who wants to make a name for himself. We need to take a chance on a young guy that may stay, and keep Jimbo Fisher out of the equation. That would be horrible, 3rd down and 4, handoff over right tackle. NO, NO, NO!!!

If Miles wins a NC at LSU he will get 3.5 million a year.. Mich WILL NOT pay him that!!!!!!!!! The going home to coach CRAP is overrated!!!!!!!

You must be joking? Ferentz? His dismal record at Iowa speaks volumes.

to fans, maybe, but what does the AD at UM think? What does the U Pres that hired him and gave him a big raise to stay at Iowa think.
Their view >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> that message board posters.

you laugh, but that would be more consistent with their past hires, plus and I may get blasted for saying this, but there has been rumblings about so few AA HC in D1, Michigan fought in SCOTUS for racial prefernces in adminsions, would not be shocking if English gets support at all.

Yep. Said there was no motivation for the timing of his press conference.
Yesterday, I felt he was gone. Earlier today I was thinking he'd stay and now I don't know. I'll probably go through all of that again tomorrow and the next day, etc.

Spurrior if he came here would only be here for 2 or 3 years. He would think he can win a MNT and go off into the sunset, ignoring recruiting. Leaving us with a mess.

We won't know anything really until after the SECCG. I don't put any stock in any rumor going or staying. A week after that game if Les isn't gone he'll probably stay.

Why would any NFL head coach make a great hire? Do they recruit? Do they know how to build a program, deal with boosters?
I know there are coaches out there, but what is the success rate of past head coaches in the NFL in college? Nebraska and Pittsburg may want to argue that point. Many NFL coordinators with major college experience may work, but the names being thrown out don't have much college experience.
I just don't think any coach can move between both and be successful. Certain my be able to like Pete Carroll, but many can't like Bill Callahan. College is all about recruiting. Les Miles is a perfect example of this. The Pros everybody has athletes, schemes and coaching have more influence.
I don't care if Miles leaves, in fact I hope he takes Teperlini with him. I just hope they get someone who can recruit and maintain the level of the program.
