Heard from someone today that Texas may throw a boat load of money at him if Nick Saban says no...5 years/$8 million per year.

Jim has previous college head coaching experience, so he knows what he would be getting into. He makes around $5 million a year now, so this would be a big increase...also consider the tax benefits of working in Texas vs California.

I believe he has young kids too, and college would offer better work/life balance.

Do you think he would jump to Texas if offered?

There's only one problem with this rumor.

i would be shocked to see him leave.

dude seems like a grinder who doesn't mind putting in the nfl hours. plus Cali is his home.

49ers are about to open a new stadium so i doubt they will let anyone steal away their star coach.

not sure he would jump this soon. I think if he had won the super bowl last year it would be more likely

I heard about maybe John Harbaugh being interested but I don't see Jim going back since he has a pretty solid team.

No. Jim is still chasing the pinnacle of football success and probably (rightfully) believes he can capture it in the next year or two.

John is more plausible since he's achieved that pinnacle (note - I'm not saying Texas would go after him, just my thoughts). Only because NFL coaches are going to wise-up and realize that big time programs are paying about the same (or more) and the lifestyle is much better (as you say...it's a very good point).

no

unlike Bama, the 49ers actually can match any offer UT makes

and there's no way he'd leave the 49ers with the success he's been having. Maybe in 2-3 years but not right now.

i'd be pretty upset not going to lie, can't see it happening though. if he wanted to be a college coach he would have taken the Michigan job.

He might not ever sniff the Super Bowl again. And his kids aren't getting any younger.
