If OU was a car, Riley rebuilt the engine before he got the keys.

And getting throttles in the playoffs is an OU thing

Because Lincoln Riley is a genius with quarterbacks and that's what it takes to be in the playoff hunt every year. So, you add one of the most brilliant offensive minds in all of football to an average LSU defense and the Tigers are the next dynasty after Alabama. That's why.

I don't think he hates defense. He focuses his recruiting efforts on offense. He comes from the Texas Tech tree, so that's on-brand for that coaching lineage.

Elite defensive players aren't lining up to play for a Lincoln Riley defense. I don't follow OU recruiting but he probably gets a couple here and there.

shite how many teams are playing good D in CFB now? UGA?

Yeah, they look like they're going to win the NC.

In my mind there aren't many coaches our fan base won't pick holes in. Even Saban struggled against us and lost to A & M.

But he can't just roll out of bed, drive an hour in any direction and bump into a handful of top 100 defensive players.

He has to go into Texas, or go nationally, to get these guys. That's not an easy sell, when those guys have no natural allegiance to Oklahoma and can go to other schools that churn out defensive players on the regular.

People always like the back-up Qb better. Riley is the back-up playoff game winner

Same concept

People dont want Jimbo who has been in the playoff 3x, and won 2, they want the guy thats been to 3, and hasnt one a game yet.

Everyone seems to have amnesia when it comes to Riley, and how LSU destroyed Riley's vaunted offense. That's a roll of film for everyone in the SEC to study and copy.

You clearly don’t remember how amazing the 2019 offense was. No Coach was stopping that runaway train

And he's 1-3 in bowl games.

Losses to LSU, Bama, and UGA in 2OT. All games vs 1 or 2 in the country.

The win was vs UF in a NY6. Riley can coach.

Jimbo was the OC in 2004 and beat OK in the NC playoff

Jimbo was the HC when FSU won their NC playoff

Jimbo went back the next year and lost the playoff game

Lincoln was OC at OK in 2016 and they lost the playoff game

Lincoln was HC in '17, '18, '19 made the playoffs, yet did not win a single game

At OU maybe. At LSU no. He would be perfect for LSU.

No coach is good enough for LSU, it seems.

Jimbo was lucky that the Kick 6 happened, and he got Malzahn instead of Saban.

You'd be willing to bet that Lincoln Riley is all of a sudden going to field a defense even remotely resembling what we're accustomed to seeing here? That just seems like blind faith to me.

I just don't think you can have it all. You want the type of offensive proficiency that his teams have had, you give up something, in this case, a passable defense.

If we get Riley, we can say goodbye to any prospect of an elite defense.

Lincoln Riley is a premier coach for recruiting and developing quarterbacks for one. We obviously need someone that can do both. It's been a constant battle for LSU in that department for a long time. Burrow was developed by Ohio State and was an anomaly for LSU and you see the results. There is also the argument that Oklahoma doesn't attract as much talent on the defensive side of the ball as LSU does, and I'm personally in favor of that argument. Look at the recruiting rankings year in and year out for LSU vs Oklahoma on that side of the ball. It's pretty telling.

If you're confused by the fascination with Riley, who you do you want for the coach? Please don't tell me you're a Napier supporter and questioning a Lincoln Riley hire.

And add to that reality this little note: in the last 4 games of the Championship year, we faced 4 PRESEASON Heisman potential QB's. In those 4 games, they combined for 1 passing TD and 6 interceptions. The most amazing stat that gets lost and comes from final regular season game, SEC Championship game, playoff and NC games!
