Brady Quinn...On his radio show this morning said that Campbell turned USC down

On his radio show this morning said that Reggie Bush and Leinart told him that Matt Campbell was contacted by USC, but he turned them down. Riley came about because OU refused to up the money dedicated to the facilities needed to compete with the SEC. USC caught wind of this and jumped on him. LSU never offered Riley the job. Take it for what it worth.
He also confirmed that USC reached out to Urban Meyer last year but he had his sights and check book set on the NFL.

This is the obvious tactic by USC to use former likeable and prominent players to paint their new coach in a favorable light. Nothing more than that.

He and Lavar Arrington were questioned the hire. Both said that Riley is a good hire for USC but he inherited a Mercedes from Stoops and never took the program to the next level ( revering to a national championship). Both agreed it is easier for him to win in the Pac-12 over the SEC.

Why is it so odd to some that LSU possibly wasnt interested in Riley?
We just crucified this guy with Orgeron at the helm in the 19 CFP and he's the stereotypical Big12 coach who cant defend. He also likes to flirt with the NFL apparently.
He's a hot name, but I would hope LSU is targeting someone more complete.

Fact
Riley does have 2 advantages over Campbell, though.
He's got experience and had success recruiting elite athletes to a big-time program. I firmly believe Campbell would do well in this area, but Riley is simply a proven commodity and Campbell is an unknown, simply because he hasn't done it yet.
Riley also is really good with QB recruiting and development. Campbell has been solid, but Riley has clearly been better.

that deal didn't just come about in a matter of hours...probably been in the works. Feldman seems to have known all along, explains why he was so adamant he wasn't coming here then suddenly Sunday "expect USC to make a play for him..."
