Do you remember the last search with Fleck?

Yeah I do. There was a group who were all over him, led by DS. Many, including myself, didn't think he was ready to jump from the MAC to a major SEC program.

Fleck also had a lot more national attention due to WMU being undefeated, ranked, and eventually making the NY6. And for all that, he ended up at Minnesota.

Is ULL knocking on the door of the NY6 like that? Have I missed College Gameday features on Billy Napier? If he's so hotly desired, does USC have him on their radar? He coached under Saban after all.

If he was not at ULL he’d be WAY more accepted on this board.

I can see that, but let me play devil’s advocate …

If we was doing exactly the same at Western Kentucky or Arkansas State, would we even be discussing him? I would suggest that we probably wouldn’t be.

I’ll be fine/happy with Napier if that’s who Woody gives the keys to.

Fan support is also important. Napier aint exactly killing it over in Laffy.

UL drew an announced crowd of just 14,262 for its win over Troy

Seen some poo poo hiring a g5 coach but when you look at his resume, his recruiting ability, and listen to how he has built that program and thinks about the game and the role of a head coach he’d be a very very strong candidate.

I'm not going to say he can't succeed at LSU. But, his resume really ain't that impressive.

Dude has had 2 OC jobs at major schools. Failed at 1. Meh at the other. And, the 1 he failed at was at a school loaded with talent.

I actually read this wrong. I thought you said Napier over Tucker. I do not want Tucker.

The past 2 seasons Napier led the first two 10-win seasons in the school’s history. I’d say the attendance issue may be more an indictment of the fans.

That was 2019.

Just curious. What was the score of that game? It's OK, you can say it.

SEC and national football writer Brandon Marcello literally just said on the Finebaum Show that Billy Napier is the best choice for LSU Coach.
